Dom stood at the podium in the war room waiting for everyone to sit and settle in. The air was thick with tension and sadness. He made note of Alpha Snow's absence as he greeted still injured Gamma Connors. Alpha Cisero was staring absently off into space. Alpha Raven had his head resting on his palm. Alpha Sloan kept rubbing his eyes and looked ready to cry. Alpha Ari paced in the back of the room. He and his wolf were on edge. All of their friends were hurting.
He sighed heavily as he opened the folder. "Alright, alphas. I'll try to make this brief."
"What the fuck happened to us, Dom?" Natelly asked.
Dom sighed heavily again. "We were blitzed."
Raven glanced over but didn't take his chin off his palm. "By who?"
"We don't know."
"What do we know?" Ari snipped rubbing his palms together as he paced.
Dom shook his head and pointed the clicker at the projector. Several aerial photos of the packs appeared on the screen. "At 0300 there was a fire at Blackhawk that couldn't be contained using typical fire fighting means."
"At 0800 there was a communications black out among all the packs."
"At 0900 there was an attack on Whitebeard Pack. Forty-five minutes later we received word of the attack via messenger bird. There was also an attack on Dark Moon Central near the neutral zone while the bird was trying to deliver its message. Later we learned, Alpha Whitebeard was killed by this point."
"At 1000 the mountain at Frost Moon was blown up and the pack attacked. Alphas Snow and Leveret were injured."
"At 1100 Dark Moon North received an influx of refugees from Crescent Moon and Harvest Moon Packs during which time returnees from all six packs suddenly disappeard. Communications came back online and we learned Moonstone and the council were also attacked."
Cisero scratched the skin under his thick beard. "How bad is the damage?"
Beta Dean looked down at his list. "We have hundreds of injured supernaturals – werewolf and other. Thirty dead and a dead alpha. Hundreds of missing – Alpha sub Rico being one of them. Eighty percent of Blackhawk's crops and livestock are gone. The water that flowed from Frost Moon down to the western territories has been diverted and is now under control by someone else. The council and alliance are in disarray."
Raven leaned back in his seat and lightly drummed his fingers on the table. "How did they manage to attack and injure so many?"
Sloan cleared his throat and looked around the table. "When they attacked us they used silver weapons like knives and clawed gloves dipped in wolfsbane and mercury."
"They also used guns with salt ammo. The fairy screamed like nothing I've ever heard," Gamma Connors added. Sloan nodded in agreement. Dom frowned slightly as he clicked the button. Photos of the injuries sustained popped up. A few let out low hisses. Several cringed.
Natelly nodded. "Fairies and merfolk are extremely weak to salt weapons. Salt causes burns, melting, blisters. "
Dom pressed another button on the clicker. Dozens of photos of retrieved weapons showed up on the screen. "We also found uv lighting on scopes we think they used on the vampires in addition to uv lamps and stakes."
Sloan rubbed his eyes. "They uh...used a spell on Szymon that reduced him to dust."
Ari had stopped pacing and was chewing on his thumbnail. "The returnees? How did so many vanish without a trace?"
