"What did you do to Kathie?" Alisa asked our father.
'Nothing! Maybe she's not completely okay after the surgery.' He answered coolly.
"Yeah right! Anyway I'm not gonna push the whole thing for now." She answered unconvinced.
Liam, Niall and I had just arrived at their apartment.
"Why did you come with us anyway?!" Niall was cheerful. I appreciated his effort to make me feel comfortable around them. He was nice to me.
"I'm your friend's wife! Am I not allowed to see him at all?! After all I live far away from here!" I joined his playful self.
"So far away! Next to us!" He chuckled.
"I know right?!" I chuckled along.
"Seriously, Kathie, what happened with your dad?" Liam interrupted us. Of course he did.
"Nothing happened! Everything's fine!" I said coldly.
"Anyway, how about we eat something?" Niall smiled at me.
"Sounds good!" I smiled politely back.
I lied once again. I just didn't want to open up because it's something really personal and it's between me and my father. I'm not going to discuss any of that with Liam. It's not like he gives a fuck about me. He wants to kill me. And I'm sure he didn't let Jake kill me because he wanted to do it himself. He hates me so I don't get why he even cared to ask about my problems.
During the meal, they both were really calm. I'd never seen them like that before.
When we were done eating, Niall said he had to leave.
So I stayed there with Liam. I didn't know if that was something I had to feel good for.
"Well, what's new?" He was the first one to break the silence.
"Nothing special! What about you?" I tried to be nice to him.
Why did he want to have a normal conversation with me? I don't get this guy at all.
"Same here! Do you want to tell me about your father?" Of course. That's why he would start a conversation with me anyway.
"No I really don't want to talk about it. Why would you even care to ask me?" I wondered.
"I don't care. I just thought it was nice of me to ask. So are you sure you don't wanna tell me?" He was so obnoxious but I had no one to talk to and he was the only one who had asked me anyway. I wanted to take it out so why not talk to him? What could he possibly do? He didn't care. He hated me. I kept reminding myself while spilling everything out.
"You always care about yourself anyway! I should've realized this by now. Anyway, he just told me I'm not Jane's daughter. Alisa is. And through all these years I've been growing up knowing that my mother is dead. He didn't say the truth to Alisa not to make her feel sad. So he decided to lie to me in order for me to believe something that's not true."
"Are you angry?" Why did he even care? Wait. He didn't.
"No. Not angry. Just disappointed."
He was about to say something but the knock on the door interrupted him. Thank God because I didn't want to keep having this conversation with someone like Liam.
It was Alisa. She told me that our dad would leave in the evening because he wasn't feeling good with what had happened. I couldn't care less though.
Anyway, Niall had arrived so we decided on watching a movie as we had nothing better to do.
I picked a movie with vampires. I really wanted to see their reactions.
Soon the movie was over.
"Was there any truth about vampires?" I spoke up.
"Of course not." Niall giggled.
"We can't stand humans. It's really hard to resist human blood." Liam said. Really now?!
"You mean you can kill me anytime?!" My blood colder than ever.
"Exactly!" Niall said more serious than before.
"Why don't you just do it then?" I asked bravely. Deep down I knew they wouldn't. At least Niall.
"Because you're married to a vampire! None of us, related to Liam somehow, can kill you." Niall grinned.
"That's good." I nodded emotionless.
"You're protected." Liam added not looking at me.
In the evening, Alisa came again to tell me that our dad had left.
"Kathie, why didn't you come to say goodbye at least? He's your father. How could you?! What's wrong with you two anyway?" Alisa confronted me.
"It's none of your business. It's between me and him! As always, you wanna know everything." I said meaning it.
"As always?! What do you mean?" She was confused.
"I'm the only one who knows what I've gone through in order for you not to feel sad, not to cry. You were always the sensitive one in the family. We should always treat you like a 5 year old." I raised my voice, making air quotes to emphasize my words.
"What's wrong with you?!"
"Nothing's wrong with me! I've always felt this way! I just pretended to be strong enough to take your bullshit!" I wasn't sure why I was taking it out on her but I was anyway.
"Okay, then! Stay with your complaints! If you keep behaving like this, you'll lose me as a friend and as a sister as well!" She gave up.
She turned around, walking towards the door but I grabbed her wrist.
"It's not like I'm gonna lose any great personality." I gave her a death glare.
I let her go. She closed the door extra hard behind her. I was pissed off.
Fresh air was the only thing I needed that moment...
