Fallen

Chapter 9

While Alisa was coming closer, I tried to walk to her a bit but I couldn't because of my aching leg. 

Unfortunately, Alisa noticed that.

Alisa: What happened? Why are you limping? What is wrong with your head? You're bleeding!!

I was about to talk to her but I noticed that Kendall and James were right behind her. So, I decided to lie once again.

I went for a walk with my bike! I fell somewhere near the river and I hit my head and my leg! It's not a big deal!" I tried to keep my voice as neutral as possible.

When I was done talking, James came closer to me and hugged me softly. Behind James was Kendall. I looked him straight into his eyes and he seemed to understand about my meeting with Logan.

"We'd better take you two home." Kendall said, upset.

After a few minutes full of tense in the car, we were already outside Alisa's and my house.

"I'm thinking of coming with you! I want to make sure that you're okay, love!" James offered.

"Yes! That's a great id-..."

"No!! James, she's fine! You don't need to go! Alisa can take care of her! Right babe?" Kendall was acting so weird.

"Yes, I can." Alisa said sweetly.

"Okay, then. We should get going now. C'mon James!"

They got in the car and drove away fast.

Alisa and I went upstairs but before we entered the house..

"Where's your bike?"

"I don't know."

Then, Alisa unlocked the door to our apartment but when we got in, we saw my bike right in front of us. 

"What's your bike doing here?" Her mouth wide open.

"I-I really don't know.." I really didn't know what to tell her.

"Okay! That's really strange! Anyway, let me see what I'm gonna do with your head."

Alisa helped me with my head but she saw the big scar I had on my arm. I was losing lots of blood.

"How did this happen to you?" She said looking at my scar.

"I have no idea."  I knew pretty good, though.

"How do you not have any idea?! It seems like some kind of animal did this to you!" She half yelled.

"Nonsense! Maybe I got it when I fell down." I wanted to tell her what happened but she wouldn't believe me. So, what's the point?

"This is so deep! You can't have gotten it only by falling down! Tell me what happened!" Her stubborn self got the best of her.

"I told you, it's nothing!" But I was much more stubborn than her.

I pulled down my sleeve and got up going to my room.

"Do you want something to eat?"

"I'm not hungry."

I locked myself in my room.

The night had already fallen but I couldn't sleep at all.

I went to Alisa's room and she was fast asleep. I didn't wake her.

I walked back to my room but I got really scared when I saw Zayn standing there.

"I won't hurt you. I just came here to tell you to stop looking for whatever you're looking for." He said calmly.

"What are you?" I asked him carefully. Not wanting to upset him.

He looked at the floor clearly angry. His hands turned into fists and his whole body was tensed.

I approached him and touched his hand.

I just wanted him to calm down. I wanted to gain his trust but by touching his hand, I realized how cold he was. 

He pulled his hand and looked at me with a death glare.

"Stop what you're doing for your own sake!"

After that, he disappeared. 

"Wait! Don't leave!" I shouted but he was already gone.

I heard Alisa's voice from her room.

"Kathie, who are you talking to?"

"No one! Just a nightmare! Sorry for waking you up!"

"Want to sleep with me tonight?" The hint of concern clear in her voice.

"No, thanks! I'm fine!"

She went back to sleep. 

I closed the window, switched the lights off and laid down.

At some time I felt Liam's presence in the room but I couldn't find the courage to open my eyes nor speak.

I made it to sleep early in the morning. I didn't get enough sleep that night...
