Liam's POV.
While we were hidden behind the wall, I noticed that Kathie was so close to me. I felt like I was her protecor once again. She seemed so vulnerable, fear filled her beautiful brown eyes. I wanted to hug her but she wouldn't let me. She was looking at Kendall and Jane.
I decided to let these thoughts about her aside for a while. We needed to save Kendall's ass. I was doing that because I knew he was her friend and if I saved him, I would make Kathie happy. Jane was torturing Kendall and I could see the effort Kathie was making to hold back tears. That's what I wanted to see. Her crying so I could hug her and make her relax. I just wanted to make her mine. I wanted to feel her lips on mine.
I was looking at her while she was looking at them. She was about to stand up. She was always brave but right now I needed to be brave, not her. I grabbed her arm so tight she winced at my move. I looked straight into her eyes. She realised that it wasn't the right time for her to be the bold one. So, she sat back down beside me.
I took a knife out. Thank God I had grabbed a few from the kitchen earlier. I walked up the stairs so I could see Jane better. I didn't want to leave Kathie alone but I had to in order to save this freaking werewolf.
I threw the knife at Jane and it stabbed her in her arm. She let Kendall free, taking back her powers. I saw Kendall stand up. He had to do something or else Jane would kill me. I saved him so he had to save me.
He grabbed a piece of glass when Jane turned to me so she couldn't see him. He threw it straight at Jane's heart. I felt so relieved at that moment. But when Jane grabbed the glass out of her heart as if nothing had happened, I was dumbfounded. She wasn't killed. What the actual fuck? Was she immortal?
"You aren't getting away with that." She warned us. Fortunately, she didn't see Kathie. She closed all the doors and windows, locking them. She disappeared after setting the whole house on fire.
Kendall ran to the basement and I followed him, taking Kathie with me. He was trying to open the door but it was locked. We both broke it down.
Kathie's POV.
When we entered the basement, I saw that Niall was lying on the floor with blood all over him. Harry was trapped in the fire. Liam and James put out the fire. Without using water at all. Good to have them with you sometimes.
Luckily, James was alright so, James, Liam and I were looking for a way to escape from that flaming house. Kendall and Harry carried Niall because he was not able to walk on his own.
I felt so dizzy due to the fire fumes. Liam put his arms around me to keep me from falling. I couldn't do anything, I couldn't pull back. I was too weak. I felt like I was losing the ground underneath my feet.
James walked towards the room where we had gotten in from, a few moments ago. Harry followed James. The door was locked, too. Harry and James pushed it together, breaking it down.
The window was open and still broken. Harry was the first one to climb down. James took me from Liam, throwing over his shoulders. Kendall did the same thing with Niall. When we all climbed down, we got as far as we could from that house.
We were walking for half an hour untill we found a small lake near the forest. We decided to take a break and sit down for a bit because Niall was much worse than before.
Liam poured some water on my face. That actually made me feel much better. After a few minutes we kept on walking. We didn't have much time. It was going to get dark soon.
While we were walking, Harry found an opening on the territory. I got in first. It was another secret path leading to my house.
We were already home. Liam, Harry, Niall, Kendall and James decided to sleep at my house that night because there was a possibility for Jane to visit me.
I went to my room, I needed to be left alone for a while. James followed me, though. It was just the two of us.
"Kathie, I want to talk to you." He said. His voice barely audible. I could tell he was nervous. But why? He had never been nervous around me before.
"Yeah. I wanna talk to you, too. Listen, James, I love you so much and I hope you know that." I paused.
"I know." He nodded.
"Good. But James, it's not like it used to be. I think that something changed between us since I found out what you really are." I said afraid of his reaction.
"You know it's not because of what I am. I know you don't mind it at all. I was never afraid of telling you that I am a werewolf 'cause I knew you wouldn't have any problem with that. I know you, Kathie. Better than you know your own self. You've changed so much and I feel like you are making a fool out of me. I can see the way you are around Liam and I think we should end it all here for both of our sakes." He explained. He was so calm as if he wanted to do it a long time ago.
"That's what I wanted to tell you. Thank you so much for being there for me but if you don't want to talk to me anymore, I understand. I've never been good enough for you. You deserve so much better and I hope you'll find it." I was feeling guilty although he was the one who broke up with me.
"I want to be friends with you, Kathie. So friends?" He said extending his hand towards me.
"Friends." I said smiling while shaking his hand.
"I will always be there for you, Kathie. No matter what." He said hugging me.
Maybe it was the last time I would get to be that close to him. I knew he was hurt but he didn't want me to see it.
"Thank you. For everything, James." I said into his chest.
Suddenly, the door opened wide and Liam entered the room.
"Sorry for interrupting." He said without looking at us. He didn't expect to see us like that.
He left the room immediately. I smiled at James as he returned the smile. He exited the room as well. I was alone. Finally. I felt relieved that everything was somehow right.
I sat in my room for a while and when I went in the living room, they were all asleep. I went in the kitchen and sat there, holding a glass of the strongest liquid I could find in the house.
I was drowning in my thoughts untill Liam's voice brought me back to reality.
"Can't sleep?" He asked taking a seat next to me.
"No." I shook my head. "I was thinking about what happened today. It's my fault that Alisa is in trouble." I was on the verge of tears. "If I wasn't so selfish, nothing of this would have happened. You're right. Everything is my fault. Always. I do nothing but mess everything up every time."
I felt Liam's arms wrap around me and I got closer to him, settling into his chest.
"It's not your fault. Either way, Jane would find out about Alisa. Don't worry. You should just get some rest. You need it. I promise you that we'll find your sister." He assured me.
He kissed my cheek before going back to sleep. I knew I had to sleep. I went in my room, closing the door behind me and falling to bed. This was going to be a long night...
