"Look at those poor people. Mind controlled by a half zombie sociopath. No better than zombies themselves." Warren said looking down at Murphy's compound.
"Being safe or being afraid is an easy choice for most." Sun Mei stated.
"A person without fear ceases to be a human being. Fight or flight ,man, it's what propelled us out of the primordial ooze." Hopper told her.
"Murphy." Warren drew our attention back to her. "Extracting his blue ass isn't going to be easy. Guard tower. Zombie moat. Electric fencing. And security at all corners. They've got the numbers."
"What about the blends? How do you plan to limit collateral damage?" Sun Mei asked.
Hopper chuckled and put a hand on Sun Mei's shoulder. "It's the apocalypse ,honey. Whole world is collateral damage."
"We can't just kill them." Sun Mei said.
"Those blends, they made their choice. They chose safety over freedom. But their safety can cost the rest of humanity its one chance to survive. And I can't let that happen. I've come to far. And I've killed too many zombies and humans to give up now." Warren stated starting to walk away.
"What about 10K ,Warren?" I asked. She stopped.
"What about him?" Warren asked.
"He's a blend." I pointed out.
"Which means he's with Murphy." Warren said.
I looked at her incredulously. "He's been with us for over two years. You can't give up on him. He helped us get Murphy to California in the first place. It's my fault he's in this situation. It could've been avoided." I told her. She looked back at me in confusion.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"When we were at Disneyland, climbing over the ruble, he told me we could say goodbye ,that you guys could make it the rest of the way. I told him I had to see it through. If we had just left to go north then, he wouldn't have gotten shot and he wouldn't have been bit by Murphy." I told her. "Fuck." I cursed as a tear fell down my face. "I swear, ever since Jeff was born, my emotions have been all over the place. I thought that was supposed to go away."
Sun Mei put a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sure you'll be back to your usual self in no time."
"We'll do what we can ,Chris, but it might not even be 10K anymore." Warren stated. Then she walked away. We followed her back to the truck.

I heard something in the distance. It sounded like a struggle.
We made it back to where we were doing our planning. Warren found 10K and brought him with us. She had to knock him out to bring him. Then she sent me to keep watch.
I don't think she trusted me around him ,especially since with her logic ,she'll try to knock some sense into him. I know she thinks I'll just get in the way when it comes to him. And she's right. I wouldn't be able to watch anything happen to him.
I walked in the direction the sound of a struggle came from. I turned a corner just to get hit in the face with the butt of a gun. It knocked me onto my back but I was still conscious.
I looked up to see a girl pointing a gun at me. I lifted my leg and quickly kicked her in the knee. She fell backwards onto the ground. She didn't hesitate to point the gun at me again.
"Move and I'll shoot your brains out." She threatened.
"Not smart to threaten someone with nothing to lose." I said.
