"Amish zombies. Really? Really?" Addy commented as 10K was shooting zombies with his slingshot.

I zoned into Doc and Cassandra's conversation. "I'm tellin' ya. There ain't nothing there. No thoughts, no memories. No soul. Nothin'." Doc told Cassandra.

"Well they're not dead. They want something." Cassandra told him.

"Yeah. Brains." Doc stated.

"You can't want something if you're not conscious. If you don't have a soul." Cassandra countered.

"When my pa was wounded, he told me to tie him up before he turned. Made me promise to show him mercy when he died. Kill the brain ,you know?" 10K told us. I slipped my hand into his ,giving it a reassuring squeeze. He held onto my hand tightly. "I couldn't do it. I couldn't hurt my pa, no matter what he'd become. I stared into his eyes for the longest time, just looking for some sign he was still there."

"Did you see anything?" Cassandra asked. 10K shook his head.

"What'd you do?" Doc asked.

"I killed it." 10K answered.

"Damn ,kid. You had to put down your own dad?" Doc asked.

"Didn't kill him. Killed it." 10K corrected.

"But if it's not alive, how'd you kill it?" Cassandra asked.

"Piked it. Right here." He tapped his temple lightly with his knife. "My first kill. I always wish he knew, you know? Somehow knew that I'd kept my promise."

I used my thumb to trace soothing circles on the back of his hand. He seemed to relax a bit.

Everyone else was climbing back in. Everyone else was in the front of the truck ,except Addy, so it was still Doc, Cassandra, 10K, and I back here with now Addy. The truck started and Warren drove off.

"What about you?" Addy asked ,looking at me.

"What about me?" I asked.

"Well, we know about 10K's dad and about my 'family'. What about yours?" Cassandra asked. I tensed up at the mention of my family. 10K noticed. He squeezed my hand reassuringly ,even though he moved kind of awkwardly while doing this.

"Trust me, you don't want to hear about them." I told her.

"Of course we do. We want to know where this over confident, spazzy ball of crazy came from." Addy said. I laughed lightly at her description of me.

"Well, uh, what do you want to know?" I asked.

"Everything." Cassandra said.

"Well, uh, my dad. He ,uh, was a preacher ,actually. Crazy right? Me the daughter of a preacher. After his divorce with my mom, he started to slowly lose faith ,it wasn't just her ,some people he knew really well died around that time as well. So, um, I was about five or six when I last saw him." I told them.

"What happened to him?" Cassandra asked.

"He killed himself. With how everything was set up, I went to his house on every other weekend. He killed himself on a Friday ,one that I was coming to his house. I found him. I was so scared that I hid in my closet. I almost died too. My mom sent someone over to his house when I didn't turn up on Monday." I explained.

"What about you mom? How was she?" Addy asked. I rolled my eyes.

"After dad died, she got into some bad stuff. She did drugs with her dumb new friends and new boyfriend." I cringed at mentioning her boyfriend. "We didn't get along well after that. I spent most of my time with my friends. I haven't seen her since about a week before the apocalypse."
