In the Apocalypse

Sisters of Mercy Part 2

I ran to the gate so I could go see the guys. Helen's words were ringing in my head. I don't believe her, I refuse to. There is hope for living out there. As beautiful as it is here, I wouldn't be able to stay. I have to help Warren complete this mission and I can't stay here without my friends.

The girls by the gate opened it to let me out. I went to where the guys were parked. They had the hatch of the SUV up and a material from a ruined tent we got was being held up off the side by two sticks and the car for shade. There was a tent set up a little ways away from the SUV.

10K smiled as he saw me walking up. I couldn't bring myself to smile back. He frowned at this.

He stood up from where he was sitting and walked over to me. I wrapped my arms around his torso ,burying my face in his chest. He wrapped his arms around me.

"Are you okay?" He asked me.

"Can we go talk somewhere?" I asked him. He pulled away and nodded.

He lead the way away from everyone else. We couldn't even see the others now. We sat on the ground. I leaned my head against his shoulder.

"What do you plan on doing after we get Murphy to California?" I asked him.

Right now I have the mission keeping me going ,but what happens afterwards? Do we all stay together or is everyone planning on going their separate ways?

"I don't know really. Maybe take a break and go up north for awhile since the Zs don't like the cold." He told me after a moment of silence. "Why?"

I told him everything. About what Helen said about there not being any hope out there and eventually I will see everyone I care about die ,well unless I die first. About how she said I should just stay with her instead of continuing with Warren.

"You're not listening to her ,are you?" 10K asked.

"I'm not staying if that's what you're asking. I want to help Warren finish this mission. People died to get Murphy this far ,someone I cared about died protecting him. I need to see it through. But what happens after that?" I ranted.

"You can stay with me. There won't be many Zs up there, I don't think a lot of people are going up there either." He tried to convince me. He didn't need to do much convincing.

"Okay." I agreed. "I wonder if we could find a husky up there. If were going north and into the snow, I want a husky." I joked. I knew I most likely wouldn't be able to get a dog.

10K chuckled at me. He turned his head and placed a light kiss on the top of my head.

"Hun, I don't think we can get a dog." He told me.

After a couple moments of silence, I lifted my head off his shoulder to look over at him. He seemed to be thinking about something.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked him.

"Remember when you said that if the Apocalypse ended, you would want a kid?" I nodded my head ,confused why he was bring this up now. "Well, maybe, we could have a kid ,after the whole Murphy thing ,of course." He said shyly ,his cheeks burning a bright red.

"After the Murphy thing ,of course." I said ,smiling over at him. He looked up at me with wide eyes ,seeming shocked that I agreed with him. Then his shock wore off and he sent me a wide grin.

He leaned over and kissed me passionately. I didn't hesitate to kiss him back. Our talk and this kiss made any thoughts that Helen might be right wash away.

I licked his lip ,wanting to deepen the kiss since I knew he's still too shy to do it himself. I'm pretty sure that's what gave him the confidence to open his mouth and slip his tongue into my mouth. Our tongues fought for dominance and he won.
