"Be ready for anything. Let's go." Warren said before following after Murphy. Doc and I went after her. 10K and Cassandra coming out behind us.
After a couple minutes, I noticed Warren stop and look behind us. I looked behind us too. Nothing was there. That made me worry. 10K and Cassandra had been following behind us.
Warren started back tracking. I followed her down the hall. We found them stopped. Cassandra was leaning against a wall with 10K kneeling beside her. We walked up to the two.
"Hey. Is she..." Warren trailed off, not wanting to finish the thought.
"She's still alive." 10K told us. I breathed a sigh of relief. "She wants us to leave her. She's worried she's going to get us killed." 10K said sadly.
"That's not going to happen." I objected.
"Well, we can't keep dragging her around with us. She's definitely not up for it." Warren said.
"Warren, we're not leaving her." I said.
"We'll come back for her. We'll just let her rest while we get Murphy to Merch. We'll get her again on our way out." Warren explained.
"Hey, what's the hold up?" Doc asked walking back to us.
"Warren wants to leave Cassandra." I said angrily.
"I want to let her stay somewhere safe and rest while we deal with this Murphy thing. We'll come back." Warren assured.
"I mean, it might be a good idea ,Chris. All this moving around can't be good for her." Doc said.
"We're coming back for her ,right?" I asked. Warren nodded. "I'm not leaving here without her." I told Warren. 10K put comforting hand on my back. I looked down at him and he sent me a half smile ,trying to tell me it was okay. I sighed and nodded.
10K picked her up. Warren led the way down the hall. She was checking doors. She stopped at one.
"This one." She said ,looking inside.
Warren moved out of the way to let 10K pass. 10K went in and laid Cassandra down on a stretcher. We all followed him in. It was a supply closet. Cassandra opened her eyes after she was laid down.
"What happened?" Cassandra asked.
"You can stay here and get some rest. And we'll come back for you." Warren told her. Warren pulled something out of her pocket. "Look, I've been saving this special since New York." Warren told Cassandra. It was a bullet. She put it in a gun. "I want you to have it. Just in case." Warren laid the gun down beside her.
"Thank you ,Warren." Cassandra whispered.
"You got it." Warren whispered back before walking out.
"You hang in there ,darlin'. We're gonna find you some antibiotics, and we're gonna get you straightened out in no time." Doc assured her before going out in the hall with Warren.
10K went over and hugged her tightly. She hugged him back weakly. After they finished their hug, 10K went out in the hall without another word.
I walked up to Cassandra with tears in my eyes. I could afford it right now. The only one in the room with me was Cassandra. I hugged her like 10K did.
"I love you." She told me. I pulled back to look at her.
"I love you too." I said.
She sighed. "No." She said. I looked at her confused. She reached up and grabbed the back of my neck before pulling my face forward ,pressing her lips against mine. It was short and over before I even processed what happened. "I love you." She said more firmly this time. I looked at her wide eyed ,not expecting her to do that at all. "I know you don't love me like I love you. But you love him. Don't let him forget how lucky he is to have you." Cassandra told me.
