We all watched anxiously as the needle got closer to Vasquez's neck. I saw Warren say something to Reina out of the corner of my eyes.
"One moment ,Doctor." Reina stopped Kurian. Warren said something else to Reina but I was too far away to hear. "On second thought. It is such a monumental accomplishment that the honor of the first dose should really go to you."
Warren is looking out for Vasquez. She must have said something to Reina that convinced her this.
"I can't. I wouldn't presume to take -"
"Oh, please. I insist." Reina cut Kurian off.
"I'm not worthy ,my queen." Kurian said. Something is wrong with the 'cure'. Like Kurian would care if he was 'worthy' or not ,because he's right he's not worthy. I doubt he would hesitate to take it if it was a cure. "If anyone should have the honor of the first dose, it should be you. Don't you think?"
"If that's what I thought, doctor, I would have said it." Reina told him. I love her ,even though I don't really like her.
Kurian looked back at Murphy again. Whatever Kurian was doing, Murphy was in on it. I don't know what those two are up to ,but it can't be good for any of us.
"Well then ,Doctor?" Reina questioned.
"Do you need some help ,Doctor?" Escorpion asked.
"No." Kurian said.
Kurian put down the needle so he could roll up his sleeve. He picked up the needle again. I looked away before he could stab it into his arm. I heard him groaning in pain. I looked back to see him almost fall over but catch himself on the cart.
Then he actually dropped to the floor. He was still groaning in pain. He started moving like he was about to begin having a seizure. It was twitches in his limps. Then he stopped moving.
Reina rolled her eyes. "Kill him." Warren pulled out her gun and aimed it at Kurian.
"Wait! Wait. Wait." Kurian raised his hand. "I'm good. I'm good. I mean I'm- I'm fine." Then he kept repeating 'I'm good' quietly to himself as he stood up.
"Test him." Reina told the Zeros.
"What?" Kurian's face fell. Escorpion brought a wooden box over to Kurian. "What's in the box?" Kurian asked as Escorpion walked over. "No. I have my own test." Kurian tried to tell them but Escorpian took his hand ,ignoring his protests about him having his own test, and put his hand in the box with what I assume was a zombie head or something like that. Kurian yelled out in pain.
"That is enough." Reina said once she was satisfied.
Escorpion let go of Kurian's hand. Kurian pulled his hand out. It was covered in blood. He continued to yell in pain.
"He should have turned by now." Reina commented.
Kurian then got his stuff ready again and took the vaccine to Reina. She held her hand out for him to stick a needle in her. I wouldn't trust any needle that he was holding. She walked forward. Warren and another Zero helped her gently sit on the ground so she didn't fall.
"I can see a world where the humans dominate again. And it is all because of one person whose strength and courage and loyalty. Lieutenant Warren. Because of you, El Murphy is brought to us. Because of you, there is hope. You gave us the future." Reina stood up.
"Someone's got a girl crush on Warren." I mumbled. I heard Doc chuckle from beside me.
"And so you must be honored next." Reina told Warren.
