"I can run faster than you though."

"That's because you have the longest legs on the planet, Xander," Mitch mocked, not spitting out the truth.

"Well, not really. There are many taller people than me. But you know the reeeaal reason why I'm faster than you," he accompanied the comment with a smirk as he wrapped his arms around the shorter boy's waist.

"Yeah. Obviously. Because you're like a hundred years older than me. You know, I was only 'turned' fifty years ago. You can't judge me. Of course, you're a little faster than me," Mitch turned away, breaking their embrace and pouring his tea.

He took the mug in his hands and solemnly smelled it, a kind of sadness spreading over his whole face, which was translated into his body language as well; vampires couldn't drink tea. And that was really too bad, because before he was 'turned,' Mitch couldn't go a day without drinking tea.

He felt Xander's hand on his back, and a kiss on his temple, and for just one moment, he let Xander pity him because just for one moment, this was one of the reasons that he was hesitant to be 'turned.' Otherwise, he never took anyone's pity, even in situations like this one.

But just this once, he leant into his boyfriend's arms, and just this once, he allowed a few tears to skim his cheeks. Because the tea wasn't the only thing. It was all of the foods, drinks, sweets, everything that he sort of missed. He put his mug down gingerly on the countertop. His head rested on Xander's shoulder, and he appreciated how much his boyfriend cared for him, how much he was there for him, and vice versa, and how much they had together.

And then suddenly, he turned to Xander, and held him closer, and kissed him, forcing his tongue into his mouth, moving along with his. Xander moved his mouth and tongue accordingly, cupping Mitch's cheeks, but he slowed him down and looked at him.

"Woah, woah, woah, wait," he said, his hands settling at Mitch's waist.

"Sorry," Mitch looked down.

"No, don't be sorry. I enjoyed it. You should do that more often. Just where the hell did that come from?"

"I just realised how great you are. Thanks for being here for me, kinda thing. Y'know?"

"I love you."

"And I love you—a whole fucking lot too. I don't think I'd be able to cope with the feelings caused by all the friends that have died and gotten old and all the friends and family that I've had to leave. I don't think I'd be able to cope without you."

Xander didn't know what to say, so he didn't say anything, he just leant down and placed his lips on Mitch's. It was tender, understanding, and Mitch started moving his lips against Xander's, opening his mouth and pushing his tongue into Xander's mouth, and Xander responded accordingly, pulling Mitch closer and closer until their bodies were flush to each other.

Spilling the tea into the sink, (I can hear the comments now) the two vampires stumbled towards the sofa, where Mitch pushed himself on Xander, his knees on both sides of Xander's waist, and pulled his shirt just so that their lips met, and Xander moaned slightly, pulling Mitch towards himself.

But Xander stopped him, slowing down their kisses and pulling Mitch into a sitting position on his lap.

"I love you, Mitch, but I don't want sex to be something we resort to when we're sad, okay?"

Mitch nodded, kissing him softly, once more. "I understand. I'm sorry."

"There's nothing to be sorry about. You're fine. But I love you, and I want to make love because I love you, not because it's better than feeling sad."

"I agree. Do you want to talk, or do you want to go for a run?"

"Let's go for a run, get those endorphins flowing."

Mitch smiled and they changed into more comfortable clothing. Then they walked out the door and into the woods, holding hands.

"Race you," Xander said, grinning.

"You'll win, you're faster."

"Ah, so you admit it."

"I just admitted it like half an hour ago."

"Yes, but not out of your own will."

"Let's just run, huh?"

"Ready? One, two, three!"

And they were off, into the woods, racing where they usually did. This time, though Xander slowed down a little bit and by the time they got to the boulder where they stopped, Mitch had won.

"Aw c'mon, you let me win!" He complained, smiling.

"And why's that a problem?" He grinned back.

"Because it isn't fair that way."

Mitch leant against the boulder and studied Xander's face, smiling faintly. Xander walked slowly up to where Mitch was and then walked closer and closer, until their hips were pressed together, their foreheads leaning on each other and their lips just centimetres apart, Xander's palms pressed against the boulder.

"Nothing in life is completely fair, though, is it?" he asked in reply and bit Mitch's bottom lip. Mitch inhaled sharply, his eyes almost closing. He went to put his arms around Xander's neck, but Xander caught his hands and held them down against the rock. He kissed the side of Mitch's lips, and all too lightly down his neck and back up again, never reaching Mitch's lips.

"Please, just kiss me!"

"It would be too fair to do that, now wouldn't it, my darling?" Xander replied, and with a whoosh, he was off back in the direction of their house.

Mitch's knees were wobbly and he felt slightly helpless, but a surge of desperation and a little bit of need for more kicked in, and he rocketed off too, following Xander. He was halfway there, however when the need for vengeance shot through him, and suddenly he was going even faster, and faster, and faster.

And when he got to the house, he searched all around for Xander, and when he finally went outside (after like a second or two of searching-he was still running while he searched) he found Xander just then slowing down in front of the house, staring at Mitch defeatedly.

"How did you—what—how did you beat me? I had a head start!"

"Some things in life aren't fair, now are they?" Mitch said and slowly walked towards Xander pushing him against the house itself. "Now can we finish what you started?"

"I'd love to," Xander replied, picking Mitch up with ease and taking him to their bedroom.
