"Let's do some 50s." Coach said "Accelerate during the 20 and stride the 30."
We all lined up and went two at a time. Tomorrow was the first meet of the season. It was more of a scrimmage type thing so Coach was having JV run tomorrow and Varsity on Saturday. However, as a Captain you still had to go to the JV meet to support.
"Girl what you bringing to the meet tomorrow, cause we're gonna be there for hours." My best friend Shynell asked
"I'm bringing some fruit, granola bars, and water." I say as I began to run
"I'm planning on bringing PB&J and bread so people could make sandwiches."
"Look at you going all out for the team." I teased
"Just being a good captain." She laughed
"Hey Sophia can I talk to you?" Jas asked
"Sure." I shrugged
We walked over to the sidelines as the team continued the light work. I didn't really talk to Jas mostly hi and bye just to be friendly. Her and Kobe talked, which I didn't find surprising. He had an interest in hoes.
"So are you and Robert like talking?" She asked
"Yeah we are." I smiled proudly "Why?"
"I"m just telling you this women to women. I've known him for some time now and he's a player and he has done girls foul in the past. I just don't wanna see you get hurt." She said sincerely
"Thanks for telling me." I lightly smiled
"Sure, I'm here for you." She said before walking away
This wasn't my first time somebody told me to be careful with Robert. At first I brushed it off but now I'm worried. Here I am thinking Robert is this sweet guy. I mean maybe he could've changed. I'm just tired of getting my heartbroken. If Robert is one of those guys I would rather know now before I get too invested.
After Practice
As I walked out the locker room into the hallway Robert was there waiting for me.
"Hey you okay?" He asked "You didn't talk to me all practice."
"I just had a lot on my mind."
"Like what?"
Silence took over the conversation. I was scared to ask him if what Jas told me was true. What if it was? That would mean we would have to be done.
"Sophia you can tell me." Robert says stepping closer to me
I sigh and look the other way.
"Robert people have been coming up to me telling me to be careful around you, and I just need to know if I should be worried." My voice cracks
