Chapter 4

"Liam's Confession"

LIAM's POV:

Niyaya ko si Missy sa garden park ng campus. Of all the places here, this is my favorite spot. The view is so peaceful and has a beautiful architectural landscape design. Naupo kaming pareho sa magkalapit na tig-isang swing, habang sabay na tinutulak ng aming mga paa at ng hangin ang duyan.

Kinakabahan ako. Hindi ko alam kung paano ako magsisimula. I just keep on smiling at her every time our eyes meet. Binabalikan din naman nya ako ng mga ngiti, bagay na lalong nagbigay sa akin ng lakas ng loob. It was almost dusk and I could see it from the expansive grassland that connected this park, papunta sa overlooking na lugar mula sa labas ng campus.

Tumigil ako sa pagsu-swing at bumaling ng tingin kay Missy. I watched her as the wind continued to carry her swing up and down. I could see she is enjoying the moment.

"Gusto kita, Missy. " I suddenly confessed. I'm really nervous. I've never confessed to anyone.

"What did you say?" She didn't seem to hear me, so she stopped swinging and turned to face me.

"I just want you to know that I like you." I told her again, then I sighed deeply.

I feel a little bit anxious right now and my heart begins to fasten. Wala siyang naging reaksyon kaagad sa sinabi ko. She just gave me a look of surprise on her face. Bahagyang naghiwalay ang kanyang mga labi at bumilog ang mga mata, but she has a pair of lovely eyes.

"So can I have your permission to court you?" sunud-sunod kong confessed.

"H-huh?" She still looks surprised.

"Will you let me court you, Missy?"

"Are you really serious?" Confused pa rin sya. "I'm not sure how to respond right now. I'm just a little surprised!"

"No, it's fine. I know you might disagree, but I mean it seriously."

"Bakit ka naman magkakagusto sa akin?" she said, and she laughed a little.

"Bakit naman hindi kita magugustuhan?" pabalik ko ring tanong sa kanya. "I mean, we were in the same class in junior high school. I know you, you know me."

"Just like that, you fell for me?" She seemed to be seeking an answer that was deeper.

"It's because you inspire me, Missy. I cannot put into words how much you inspire me every day. You never cease to amaze me." I replied seriously.

"Is that a compliment or you're making a ball out of me?" She is still not convinced.

"I think there's a difference between flowery words and admiration just to get something I want. I genuinely feel something for you, Missy. Hindi mo man napapansin, maybe because I'm not that showy kind of guy. " My elated smile couldn't be hidden.

"Paano mo ba malalaman na gusto mo talaga ang isang tao?" sunod na tanong pa nya, tipong naninigurado.

"I don't know. I mean, hindi ko alam sa sitwasyon mo. Pero para sa akin, sa sitwasyon ko, at sa nararamdaman ko sa'yo. Sometimes, It doesn't matter why I like you, what matters is I know that I do like you, Missy."

I saw that Missy's cheeks were getting red. I think it's cute for some reason. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her, o baka isa din yon sa dahilan. Kaya bahagya akong bumaling ng tingin sa kawalan. Ayokong ma-conscious siya masyado sa pagkakatitig ko.

"When did you start liking me?" she immediately asked. "Hindi kasi kita nahalata. Bakit hindi mo kaagad sinabi sa akin? "

Muli akong napabalik ng tingin sa kanya.

"It just happened. Noong junior high pa tayo. I started to see you differently and developed feelings." Pag-amin ko.

The truth is, I never planned on confessing to her this early. I'm still waiting for the perfect moment to tell her, since it's only our second day of school in senior high, kaya parang hindi pa appropriate. But when the viral photo spread about her and Gavin on campus, I was triggered to act sooner. I don't know, pero it hit me so hard that this one person na gusto ko ay nai-involved kay Gavin. I may be overly jealous because everyone knows that girls at this school are constantly flirting with him. Gusto ko syang protektahan.

"May gusto ka ba kay Gavin? " Out of nowhere ay bigla ko na lang uli naisip na itanong iyon sa kanya.

"Si Gavin? Bakit naman ako magkakagusto sa kanya? Chismis lang 'yon sa school. Naniniwala ka ba?"

"Hindi." Mabilis kong sagot.

"Is this related to our widely shared picture? I swear, it never happens that way. Aksidente lang ang lahat, Liam."

"Hindi ka affected sa nangyari?"

"Why would I be affected? It's not even true." she stated and after hearing that, I feel motivated again.

"So....May chance na maging tayo?" ngumiti ako.

"Tayo?......." she paused.

While I waited for her response, her body abruptly shifted, and she swiftly stood up on the swing. While flailing one hand and looking for something on her arms.

"Missy, something is wrong? " I asked with a worried face.

"I think an ant bit my arm. I'm not sure where it came from."

"Let me see." I got up fast and reached for her arms.

"Okay lang ako, Liam."

"Let me see it, Missy." insisted ko pa.

Tiningnan lang nya ako at hindi na sya nakatanggi. Nagpantal nga ang bandang taas ng kanyang braso. Mukhang kagat nga ng langgam.

"Mabuti pa siguro, umalis na tayo dito. I'll walk you home, Missy." Offer pa nya.
