GAVIN's POV:

I don't want to think that she is purposely avoiding me. Even though the last conversation I had with her at the ice cream shop is still fresh in my mind, I still can't stop myself from liking her. Kaya after ng emergency meeting namin today sa swimming team, sinubukan kong puntahan si Missy sa room namin kaya lang ay wala na sya. Nakita ko na lang sya with Aura nang maghiwalay sila ng daan pauwi.

I followed her. I wanted to go up to her, but Liam was there, too. Nauna pala sya sa akin.

Alam kong nasipat ako ni Missy kanina, pero itinago ko na lang ang aking sarili. Ayokong makita nya ako sa ganoong sitwasyon.

Seeing someone you like with someone else is a double punched. Para akong tinamaan ng sangkatutak na suntok plus yung weird feelings in my stomach. So weird.

"AHHHH! Hindi pwede ito!" I scratched my head and screamed out of frustration.

Hindi ako makatulog!

This is not the right time to give up, nag-uumpisa pa lang ako.

I got out of bed, moved over to my study table, and turned to face my personal computer. Nag-scroll ako sa aking social media account. Ang tagal ko ng nag-add friend kay Missy, but she hasn't accepted me yet.

I sighed before reaching for my phone, which was also on the table. I'm wondering what she's doing now.

"Missy, Gising ka pa ba?" I texted her, but it's close to midnight. I'm not sure if she's even awake.

A few minutes went by, and she had still not replied to my message,

"Gising ka pa ba?" Sinubukan ko uling mag-text.

Naka-ilang message yata ako pero hindi talaga sya nagre-reply. Kaya tumawag na ako sa kanya. Nag-ring ang phone nya at pagkatapos ng ilang segundo narinig ko na ang boses nya.

"What is it this time, Gavin?" mahinahon naman pero parang may discomfort sa boses ni Missy sa telepono.

"Bakit ba ang hirap mong kontakin, Missy?" prangka kong tanong sa kanya.

She went silent for a few seconds, and I almost thought we got disconnected until she started talking again.

"Kasalanan ko pa?" She seemed extremely irritated. "Could I not just be working on something? Did I tell you to give me a call?"

My heart skips a beat at the sound of her voice. Her tone was a little scary.

"I'm sorry to bother you. Hindi mo pa kasi ako ina-accept sa social media, ang tagal ko ng nag-a-add sa'yo."

"Are you kidding me? 'Yun lang ang itinawag mo? It's almost midnight na, bukod pa sa nagsasayang ka ng load. Don't you want to sleep?"

"Please accept me first so you can go to sleep." pangungulit ko pa.

"Hindi ba dapat ay ako ang madi-decide kung tatanggapin kita o hindi?"

"Why can't you just accept me? And it's done."

"Bakit mo ba ako dinidiktahan?"

"Are you playing hard to get on me, Missy?

"What?" I can already sense her extra annoyance on the phone. "Bakit ba ako nakikipag-usap sa'yo? You're impossible!." sabi pa nya.

Ewan ko ba kung bakit natawa pa ako. Biglang na-imagine ko tuloy ang itsura nya. Sing-katulad siguro ng first encounter namin dati.

Yes. Definitely, she is confusing me!

And sometimes, I don't get it. Usually, girls are into me. But it's like this one girl just ignores me.

Her personality is so strong. She has certain characteristics that make her unique in her own way and sets her apart from the other girls I've encountered.

"So, pwede na akong matulog?" tila pakiusap nya nang ma-accept na nya ako.

"Okay, goodnight!." Nakangiti kong sagot at pareho na naming binaba ang telepono.

Bahagya akong nag-stalk sa personal account nya. I couldn't help but stare and smile at her photos. She has soft features and always looks so beautiful. I love how she genuinely looks naive and innocent, but fierce and a mean-tempered troublemaker as well.

Natawa ako.

I had to see her.

Nag-video call ako sa kanya. Sa unang tawag, hindi nya tinanggap, pero nang bumukas na ang screen ng kanyang video ay bahagya akong napasigaw.

"Wohhhh!" I almost fell backward, losing my grip on my chair a bit.

The first thing I saw was a dark room only lit with a light lantern. Until I realized that someone was sitting at a table looking off into the distance while staring at me blankly. Pagkatapos ay nag-spark pa ang mata nya sa dilim nang lumapit sya sa video screen.

"Missy, ikaw ba yan?"

"Oo. Bakit ba?"

May nakabalot na puting maskara sa kanyang buong mukha.

"Anong nangyari sa'yo?"

"Makikipag-face time ka, pagkatapos ay tatanungin mo ako kung ako nga ito? Wala ka ba talagang balak magpatulog?"

"Bakit kasi ganyan ang itsura mo?"

"Eh, ano naman sa'yo kung ganito ang itsura ko? Patulog na ako kaya naka-beauty face mask na ako."

"Mukha kang multo." sabi ko. "You shouldn't scare people like that...."

Tumahimik sya saglit, saka biglang humalaklak ng malakas.

"Teka,... natakot ka?" biglang tukso nya.

First time ko syang makita na tumawa ng ganon sa harap ko. To be honest, that makes her cuter sa paningin ko.

"So takot ka pala sa multo?" She's teasing me again.

I closed my eyes, letting out a huffing sound before I answered her. "H-hindi ah!"

"So,...Ang isang Gavin Amber pala ay takot sa multo." push pa nya uli.

Then, she smiles mysteriously.

Then, ngiting nakakaloko.

Pinamulahan ako ng pisngi. Tipong nag-iinit na sa embarrassment.

"What made you think na takot ako sa multo, Missy? Mga urban legend lang yan. Meaning, walang katotohanan. Sometimes, it's obscure with little or no supporting evidence." paliwanag ko.

"Kung magpapaliwanag ka. Make sure na kayang i-justify ng actions mo."

"Nagulat lang talaga ako sa nakabalot sa mukha mo."

"Okay." Napapailing nyang sagot. "So may sasabihin ka pa ba? Inaantok na kasi ako."

I didn't really absorb what she just said. I was stunned for a few seconds and just stared at her on the monitor.

"Now what? Bakit ganyan ka kung makatingin?" puna pa nya.

"I think you're pretty amazing!." bigla ko na lang nasabi sa kanya.

I was a little astonished that I told her that. I'm not usually good at making compliments to someone, especially a girl, pero natural na lang syang lumabas sa aking bibig. Siguro dahil iyon talaga ang sinasabi ng aking puso. Hindi sya nag-respond kaagad. It's like an awkward silence between us. But she managed to smile at me, even just a little.

Masaya na ako doon.
