josh pushes himself back away from his desk out of frustration. not with anger, but with confusion. he doesn't know why he wants to talk to this boy so much, as he knows nothing about him.
a huff leaves josh's mouth as he closes his laptop and puts it away, laying down on the bed behind him. who is this boy, and why is he so mysterious? even though most people wouldn't care, josh wants nothing more to help.
josh wants nothing more than to help anybody for that matter, but no one seems to want to help josh in return. omegle seems to be the way to go, too. it's easier to help someone without having to face them in person, as josh's anxiety keeps him from doing things like that.
no one really knows about his depression besides his mom, because he likes to hide it to not draw attention to himself. "fake it til you make it," right? his mother decided to take him to see a doctor at times when it got really bad, and they started him on antidepressants. he only likes taking them when it's absolutely necessary, so basically for the last couple months. josh likes to think that helping others is a better way of coping with mental health than any pill.
overall, josh has a good life. he would never let his sadness and dark thoughts take over, and he knows that so many people have it so much worse than him. like this mysterious omegle stranger he talks to every night. he seems much more unstable than josh.
josh looks at himself in the mirror. his personality is so bubbly and friendly that he needs some kind of way to look less intimating, so he pierced his nose, stretched his earlobes, and dyed his hair purple out of rebelliousness from his mom. she never seemed to mind anyway.
he wonders what his stranger friend looks like. could it just be brendon or someone playing a trick on him? it couldn't be, brendon's not that poetic or awkward. why did he refer to himself as blurryface? and in such a weird way too.
my name's blurryface and i care what you think.
josh would find out all of this even if it was somehow the death of him.
