"ugh, what brendon?"
"wake up." brendon says from over the line. "i wanna talk to you."
"well i'm awake now. and talking to you." josh grumbles, checking the time. "it's not even seven yet."
"get ready, we're going to hang out before school."
"why?" josh asks, sighing into the phone.
"because. it's about tyler."
josh finally sits up, holding the iphone to his ear in confusion. "what about him...? did something happen?"
"you tell me." he says calmly.
"uhh, okay? i'll be ready in twenty minutes." josh replies, nervously.
"text me when you're here." brendon chirps, and josh can hear his smile through the call. "oh, you're picking me up, by the way."
"i figured." josh rubs the sleep out of his eyes and stands to his feet. "talk to you soon."
brendon says his goodbyes and hangs up, leaving josh alone and in confusion. what could he want to talk about? they never really did say anything after the taco bell dilemma that went down yesterday.
it only takes josh twenty five minutes to shower, eat, brush his teeth, and leave the house. brendon doesn't live too far, anyway.
josh texts his whereabouts to him as he arrives at the house, palms clammy and sticking against the steering wheel. brendon immediately walks out of the doorway, adjusting the black cap on his head. he smiles at josh, who shifts in his seat, restlessly.
brendon enters the truck and puts on his seat belt before leaning back. "hi, joshie."
"morning, brenda. you wanted to talk?"
he nods and josh waits for him to elaborate, but instead he looks forward.
"but not here."
josh sighs. "okay, then where?"
"take us to rohr's. i want a coffee."
josh rolls his eyes. "fine. but you're buying me one, since i drove."
he giggles. "i was going to anyway, but okay."
they drive to the little cafe and walk inside. brendon gets a caramel mocha latte with some gay looking whip topping and chocolate sprinkles and josh gets a black coffee with an extra shot of espresso. brendon invites josh to sit at the tiny table by the window.
it's an awkward silence, as josh waits for brendon to speak. instead, he distracts himself by sipping on his typical white girl-looking drink and looking out the window at all the passing vehicles.
josh taps on his cup with his fingers, looking around the coffee shop, hesitantly making the first attempt at socializing.
"so... now?"
brendon takes another sip and sighs. "i remember taking dallon here. he would get a green tea and i would get the most extra and gay looking drink on the menu everytime. every single time. he was so sick of it."
"oh... okay." josh replies, raising an eyebrow.
"it was kinda our spot." he sighs, smiling at what josh assumed was a happy memory. "sometimes i wish he saw me the way i saw him instead of some hookup."
"well, he came here everytime you asked, didn't he?" josh asks.
brendon shrugs. "yeah, i guess he did. but who would say no to a free tea every once in a while?"
