Peter called me and told me he was going to go Homecoming with his crush, Bella Powell. I was disappointed but told him not to worry because I'd figure something out. I had no idea what I was going to do. I told (y/b/f) to go ahead of me with her new boyfriend, Bruce Tompkins, so that she wouldn't need to worry about me.

"Are you sure?" She asked when she had called me from the limo.

"Yes I'm sure. It's okay." I said.

"Alright. Be safe. No drinking. And you better show up." She said.

"I will. Now go have fun and don't worry about me." I said.

Then I hung up and got ready to go to Homecoming. I slipped into the satin blue dress and did my hair in a sort of half up half down. I smiled at my reflection in my rear view mirror and started the engine in my car.

When I pulled into my parking spot at school, I hopped out, locked the car, and started towards the school. I took a deep breath before starting towards the entrance of the cafeteria. And when I walked in through the door everyone seemed to turn to look at me.

"Is that-" Catherine began to shout.

"Yes it is." Edmund smiled.

"Wow is that (y/n) (y/l/n)!" People yelled.

"I think so!"

"She looks good."

"Damn how have I not noticed her."

"What a hoe."

"Shut up. She's cool."

"Whatever."

I smiled and made my way to the punch bowl. I carefully poured a bit of punch into a glass cup and turned around to see Peter standing behind me.

"You look very nice Mrs. Edmund Pevensie." He grinned.

"Thank you." I laughed.

"Edmund just ditched Catherine to go out to the Courtyard for some 'fresh air'." He said putting air quotes around fresh air.

"How does that involve me?" I asked with a smirk.

"He said something about how you couldn't just show up here with that beautiful brown hair of yours and just make him jealous." Peter said.

"HE DID WHAT?!" I practically screamed.

"He-" Peter began again.

"Oh I heard you. He's about to get a piece of my mind." I grumbled, heading towards the courtyard in an angry huff.

Once I got there I stormed around the corner where the fountain was. Edmund had no right to make me feel like I did something wrong. Homecoming is Homecoming after all.

"EDMUND PEVENSIE HOW DARE YOU-" I began but stopped when I saw him

"EDMUND PEVENSIE HOW DARE YOU-" I began but stopped when I saw him.

He was on one knee looking up at me with those beautiful brown eyes of his. I was in shock, considering I had an entire speech prepared for him.

"E-Edmund?" I asked, still completely shocked.

"(y/n), I love you. And no, I'm not going to ask you to marry me. But I've waited so long-too long probably-to ask you to be my girlfriend. I broke it off with Catherine. She's pissed, but she'll get over it. You see (y/n), I need you. I always have and I always will. And I said what I did to Peter so that you would come talk to me. I've been waiting MONTHS to ask you, but every time I had the chance, Catherine pulled me away. I'm sorry it took me this long. What do you say?" He asked.

"I-I dont-" I began.

"(y/n) if you want me to be there with you are drive you to school everyday and cuddle you and hold your hand, just kiss me. And I'll know my answer." He said.

So he stood up and look at me. He then slipped the small silver band on my finger-a promise ring. I embraced him and then I kissed him. Not rough and passionate. But soft and sweet.

And it was in this moment, the few before it and the few after it, that I never had to change because Edmund had always loved me. I didn't have to give up my blonde hair or my glasses. Hell, I didn't even have to lift a finger. Because no change would make him love me more than he already did. He already loved me with everything he had.
