Imagine: You're a sea nymph, the minority in Narnia. You're also a newer member to Caspian's crew. You meet Edmund on the ship's deck in the few moments before sunrise, where you're crying and singing.
⚠️WARNING⚠️ This is cheesy as hell.

Your life had never been easy. Being a sea nymph and the daughter of one of the most hated mermaids in Narnia did not help. But you had found a job in King Caspian's crew. However, this only worsened things. The other crew members made fun of all the scars you'd acquired over the years. The one of your right cheek being the most noticed. The ones on your stomach, thighs, wrists, and the one of the back of your neck went most unnoticed.
The teasing went on and on until the arrival of Queen Lucy and King Edmund. They arrived and everything seemed to soften around. Queen Lucy mostly resided in Caspian's study. But Edmund has tried multiple times to talk with you. On the deck, you would run off. In the kitchen, you would duck out just as the rest of the crew came in to eat.
But there was one night when you couldn't sleep. You managed to slip out of the cabin and onto the ship's deck. You sat down on the mast, letting your feet hang off. You looked at the setting moon and knew the sun would be up soon. You felt a tear escape and you sniffed softly. You began to sing your song.
"Daylight. I must wait for the sunrise. I must think of a new life and I mustn't give in. Burnt out ends of these smoky days, the stale cold smell of morning. The moon is setting, another night is over. Another day is dawning...."
It's at this point, you turn around and see Edmund standing on the deck behind you. As the moonlight lights up all your scars for him to see. You can't stop crying and you can see him crying. You stay seated and try to find a way out, but there isn't one. You bury your head in your hands and he puts his arms around you. You sob and put your hands on his forearms, holding them lightly.
"Touch me, it's so easy to leave me, all alone with the memory of my days in the sun. If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is. Look a new day has begun."
You both look at the rising sun. The new day has begun.
