Imagine: You are in an arranged marriage with Edmund Pevensie. You get married and within two months into your marriage you become pregnant. you're unsure of how to tell him. after you wedding, you decide to tease Edmund and hang out with Peter more, causing Edmund to become jealous, so he confronts you.
You'd been married to Edmund for only a short time now. It wasn't like you'd fallen in love and dated and then gotten married. It was far that actually. You'd been forced to marry him and he'd been forced to marry you. You parents wanted to connect your families through marriage, and you two were their hope.
So you were married on a crisp October afternoon. It was December now, and Edmund always seemed to be away on some kind of trip. So you decided to tease him by hanging out with his older brother, Peter.
Instead of eating dinner in your seat next to Edmund, you sat next to Peter. And instead of sleeping next to Edmund each night, you would play chess with Peter late into the night. Then you began to see Edmund only when you woke up and went to sleep in the late evenings.
You didn't realize how mad this made Edmund. He didn't like the thought of you being with his brother more than you were with him. So, he confronted you one evening while you were playing chess with Peter.
"Excuse me, may I speak with my wife?" Edmund coughed.
"Your wife has a name." I replied, moving a pawn.
"May I speak with (Y/N) please?" He sighed.
"I'm coming, darling." I said, getting up.
"What the hell are you trying to do?" Edmund asked once we were in another room far away from Peter and the chess board.
"I'm making due with what I have, Edmund." I replied.
"What's that supposed to mean?" He asked.
"Nothing." I replied.
"(Y/N) just tell me-" He pried.
"Shut up Edmund you're always gone-"
"That's no excuse to fiddle around with my brother-"
"Well I love late night chess-"
"BUT I LOVE YOU!" Edmund blurted and covered his mouth, realizing what he'd said.
"W-What?" You asked, startled slightly.
"I love you (Y/N). I loved you from the moment we got married. I'm so afraid to let you in. You're like fire, you could burn me at any second. And seeing you with him, it burns. It burns a sweet and bitter passion." He sighed.
"Edmund...I...I love you too. I didn't know how to say it before. I'm sorry." You sighed looking at him.
"So this marriage this isn't so bad after all?" He laughed.
"Haha...yeah..." You laughed nervously.
"(Y/N) what's wrong?" Edmund asked.
"I...I didn't know how to tell you, Ed. I'm not just sick, darling. I'm pregnant." You laughed a little, waiting for his reaction.
"I'm gonna be a Father?" You nodded and he grinned, running to your stomach, holding your sides, "This is the greatest day of my whole life! PETER! IM GONNA BE A DAD!!" He yelled and ran into the other room. You chuckled and watched him go. That was your husband alright.
