_____________________I was waiting by the tree as I usually did in the evenings. I saw him come into view and smiled. Nothing made me happier than seeing him. I ran to him and he picked me up in an embrace, spinning me around. I laughed and then kissed him. He kissed back, and then we tumbled into the long haired grass around us.
He lied down on the soft earth and I got as close to him as I could. I looked up at the stars for a moment, and realized he was looking at me.
"Darling," He finally broke the silence, "I've been thinking recently."
"And what have you thought about?" I asked.
"I really do love you. More than I love this land or the seas or the sky above us both now. I think we should spend forever together." He explained.
"Oh Edmund, how could we?" I asked, excited by the idea.
"I don't know, that's where I always get stuck in my thoughts." He sighed.
I knew it was impossible for us to be together. Running away would damage both our kingdoms and tip the balance of prosperity in Narnia. We would also be in a great deal of danger because we would have to run South of Archenland into desert and Lord knows what else.
"Edmund maybe one day, we can...oh I don't know...truly marry." I sighed.
"Maybe one day day." Edmund sighed too and put his arms around me.
"Edmund, are you going to the Spring Conference?" I asked.
"I'm being forced to. Are you?" He asked.
"Yes, my brother says if he has to go, I do too." I laughed.
"At least we'll be there together." Edmund smiled and I did too.
The next morning, I prepared myself for the trip to Cair Paravel. Upon our arrival, gossip immediately resurfaced. Journalists from all the nooks and crannies of Narnia had gathered in an effort to provide coverage of Susan and my brother.
"Just don't talk to them." My brother shrugged and entered the courtyard. I rolled my eyes but followed.
The Narnians never failed to choose the most beautiful day to gather for a conference. Every flower in the garden was in bloom, and the sun was shining brighter than normal.
