imagine: when you're young, you meet edmund pevensie underneath the mistletoe after midnight at cair paravel.

I was seventeen when Edmund Pevensie and I had fallen in love under the secret cover of the gardens of Cair Paravel. I was made a Queen of Narnia after saving his life during the Narnian War many years ago and yet we hardly knew one another. My governess, Lucile, was strict woman who kept me away from the Pevensies since I was not blood related to them. Which was ridiculous, but I wasn't about to say that to a woman who was just trying to "preserve my innocence" as she said.

I realized what she meant when I started secretly spending afternoons with the youngest Pevensie boy, Edmund, in the garden. As we grew older, we grew into subtly touching one another on the hand, on the arm, on the chest. I understood Lucile's being adamant about preserving my innocence but by this point I was already giving small pieces of it to a man I trusted.

Edmund and I had spent much time together and we realized our feelings for one another fast. The spring became summer then became fall then became winter and Christmas was coming up in Cair Paravel.

One December evening a note was slipped underneath my door after Lucile had given me my evening tea and retired to her quarters. I leapt to it and saw Edmund's seal was on it. I blushed to myself and opened it.

dearest (y/n),
meet me by the grand staircase. the one with the garland where it's snowing.

all my love, Ed

I grinned and put the letter down on my desk. I walked out the door and ran down the hallway and down the grand staircase where I saw him standing. Tall, dark, and handsome. I stopped when I saw him and we smiled at one another.

"Good evening," He smiled.

"It's weird not seeing you underneath a magnolia tree," I blushed.

"I like this," He said. "And I've been thinking about this for a while...would you, i mean if you want..."

At this point he looked me right in my eye and I returned the look, not understanding where he was going with this. Then I looked up and saw the mistletoe.

"Mistletoe," I smiled.

"Can't break tradition," He smiled.

"That'd just be wrong," I added on.

He pulled me in slowly and placed one hand on my waist and the other on my cheek. We shared a first kiss. It was passionate but also sweet and I could feel myself melting away, not worried about if anyone would see us or care.

"I was trying to ask," He said, "if you'd be my girlfriend."

"Are you serious?" I asked.

"Why wouldn't I be," He smiled. I pulled him into another kiss and this time we didn't stop. "I'll take that as a yes."
