I woke up and left my husband and daughter to let them sleep more. However, I looked at Caroline and saw her awake, looking up at the spinning ceiling fan.
"Good morning beautiful," I said softly. I lifted her up and brought her into the nursery where I changed her diaper. She sniffled. "Sh. Don't cry," I soothed. "No tears," I lifted her into my arms and rocked her gently, kissing her forehead. "Shh," Her sniffling went down, earning a smile from me. "I love you, pretty girl," I carried her downstairs and raised my eyebrow at my crying daughter on the couch. She didn't hear me coming down. "Penelope?" She jumped and turned to look at me. "Hey, why are you crying?" She reached her phone towards me, so I went over and took it. She had Instagram open and there were posts about our show. Theone she opened for, for the first time, and people were sharing her. They were saying such awful things and I literally felt my heart shatter. "Baby," She wiped her eyes on her arm and looked away from them. "You shouldn't listen to these assholes,"
"B-But it's all true,"
"What do you mean? It is not. Have you seen what was said towards your father when he performed for the first time? They were horrible to him but look at him now. Everyone who said anything is a bunch of assholes who are too jealous and insecure to embrace your talent. You sang beautifully that night and they just want to talk about something. It's going to happen all the time, babe. You just have to ignore them," She sniffled and wiped her eyes on her shirt.
"But i-it still h-hurts my feelings," I sat next to her on the couch and wrapped an arm around her.
"I know, baby. It will, but you just have to be stronger than those words. Stand up to them," I took my phone out and also went onto Twitter. "One second," I then sent out a tweet:
I'd really appreciate if people wouldn't talk down about my daughter. She's 13 and is doing her best to achieve her goals, and you putting her down really hurts my feelings. If you were truly a fan of mine, you'd leave her alone and encourage her to keep going. Thank you -(:
"Problem solved," I told her.
"We'll see," I kissed her on the cheek.
"You're beautiful and talented and I know you're probably thinking that I'm just saying that cause I'm your dad, but it's true. I think you're perfect. You make me, Daddy, your sister, everyone so so proud,"
"I know," She sniffled and snuggled up to me. "You make me happy, Papa. Daddy does too. And Caroline," She looked up at me with her glassy green eyes. "A-And I'm proud of myself for releasing my songs and stuff but people aren't even listening to it. They're focusing on something that happened a long time ago. That's going to be my reputation,"
"Don't cry. I hate seeing you cry," She whimpered, which managed to get Caroline to whimper. "Oh not you too, baby,"
"S-Sorry," Pen said, sitting up and crying into her hands. As I was about to comfort Penelope, Caroline let out a wail and began to cry hysterically. Honestly, she was probably just hungry, but both of them crying really stressed me out.
"Baby, stay here," I told Penelope and stood up, bringing my baby into the kitchen where I put formula in a bottle and warmed it up. I tested the temperature on my hand and thought it was good, so I brought it to my daughter's mouth. Her cries stopped as she ate with her eyes closed. I met my other daughter again, but Harry was just walking down the stairs. "Hey, did I wake you?" He rubbed his tired eyes and shook his head. "Kids?" He nodded.
"There's a lot of crying," He pointed out, sitting next to Penelope on the couch. "What's got you crying my angel baby?" He was obviously still tired. She moved over so they weren't sitting so close. "Pen," He looked at me.
