Chapter 14

Gwen and I were standing on a rooftop of a building. "Why did you have to pick such a high building Peter?" "To make this more romantic." I said walking up to her and kissing her on the lips. The kiss seemed like forever even though it lasted only 10 seconds. We pulled away. "Wow." Gwen said with a smile. "Gwen...I need to tell you something about last night. I fought a 9 foot tall lizard. He was wearing a lab coat....an Oscorp lab coat." "Oscorp? You think someone turned themselves into a giant lizard?" "I don't think. I know. What can lizards do that humans desperately want?" "To regrow...limbs." "Who do you know that wants to regrow a limb?" "Oh god!" "What?" "It's Dr. Curt Connors!! Peter, he was working on a serum that would enhance the human body. Give us the ability to fight off cancer and regenerate on a cellular level. He wanted to regrow his right arm." "So, what you are telling me is that Dr. Curt Connors turned himself into a giant lizard. Sure why not. Makes sense." I said sarcastically. "Basically." "Well. I have to find him." "What? Why you?" "I have to. I have to prove to your father that Spider-Man isn't some idiot in a suit. That he actually stands for something." "No you don't." "Yes I do, Gwen. What if I'm the only person that can stop him?" "Peter please." "Gwen. I have to. If it makes the world see who I really am then I am going to. So please let me at least try." I pleaded. She nodded. I grabbed her waist and jumped off the building. "PETER!!!" Gwen yelled. I laughed. I shot a web and swung across the city. I dropped her off at her place and went home.

   *******The Following Day********

     I was walking the halls of school when I heard familiar voices. "Oh god! Please don't let it be him! Please please please!" I pleaded quickly. "Hey Peter. What's wrong?" "They're here." "Who? Who's they?" "My friends." "What? How did they find you?" "No idea. Come on we have to go." I said grabbing Gwen's hand. "Pete?" MJ asked. "Not now MJ. We'll talk later." I told her. I was pulling Gwen down the hall. Gwen pulled me into the maintenance closet. "Whoa!" I exclaimed quietly being pulled. "Gwen, this is the maintenance closet. Gwen, this is the most cliched hiding place you could have chosen." "Oh I'm sorry I didn't pick the Bahamas of hiding places!" Gwen said sarcastically in a whisper. I sighed nervously. "I blame you, if he smells us." "What?!" "He has superior sense of smell...shh." I said quietly. "Have you seen this person? He goes by the name Stiles Stilinski." "Who's Stiles Stilinski?" "My birth name Gwen. My name is Peter Parker." I told her. "Do you not like your birth name or something?" "Seriously we're going to do this right now?!" I whisper screamed. "Guys. I think I heard something." "Like what?" "A voice." "Gee that's a surprise. I wonder why? Oh! Maybe it's because we're at high school. There are bound to be talking teenagers." "Oh god not him too. Not Derek." I peeked through the slits in the door. They turned around and walked away. I burst out of the maintenance closet with Gwen. A broom fell over. "Oh crap!" I said out loud. Oh crap. Way to go Peter! The group of friends turned around and stared at me. "Stiles?" "Gwen run now!" I said pulling her along with me. "STILES WAIT UP! STILES WAIT!" Scott yelled running after me. This isn't how I wanted my day to turn out. I ran out of the school and jumped to the rooftop with Gwen. I heard a screech. " Oh great! Now he's here, too. The Lizard is here. Gwen I'm going to throw you off the roof." "WAIT WHAT?!" "Just trust me okay!" I said then threw her off the roof and shot a web at her before she could be splattered against the pavement. I tore off my clothes and was soon wearing my spidey suit. I pulled the mask over my face. I crawled off the roof and into the building. The Lizard was running through the hall. Scott and the others were ready for a fight. Lizard looked at them and screeched. "Kanima?" "Obviously Scott. It's a giant lizard!" Derek yelled. I hopped down from the ceiling behind Lizard. "HEY LIZZIE! INCOMING!!" I yelled as I flew at him and kicked him. Lizard turned around and roared. "I didn't know Godzilla was letting his children attend high school! That's awesome!" I said sarcastically and waved at him. I shot my webs at him and slung myself at him. I looked over at Scott and the others. "You guys need to go...now!!" "No! We deal with this sort of thing." Scott said as he punched Lizard. Lizard looked at him annoyed. He grabbed Scott by the throat. "Hey big green and ugly! Put. The. Boy. Down." I said punching and kicking him saying each word. He dropped Scott. "Yoooou." "Meeeee." "I'm going to kill you and then skin you." "Well, that doesn't sound very nice now does it? But if you want me come and get me." I taunted. I jumped to the ceiling and stood upside down. Lizard jumped to the ceiling and started swinging at me. I was dodging his attacks. His tail sideswiped me into the floor. I got up and webbed his hand to the lockers. He yanked his hand off along with a sharp shredded locker door. "Uh...no." He started swinging at me. I knocked the locker out of his reptilian hand. He grabbed me by the throat with his tail.  "Whew! Jesus! Your breath is stanky! Have you been in any sewers lately? Because, you got a serious case of some dragon breath dude. You need a breath mint. The size of a football, preferably." I said waving my hand in front of my nose. I webbed his mouth shut. He took the webbing off and threw me to the ground hard. "Oof! Ouch!" I said. "You can't beat me Spider-Man!" "No. I'm just stalling." I said. The sound of police sirens were heard. I squatted down slowly. "Someone's been a bad lizard." I said mockingly.
