We were standing in my room silently. I was staring at my floor. "Peter?" Scott asked. "Where's Gwen? What happened to Gwen?" Derek asked. "Wait who's Gwen?" "My old girlfriend." "Old? Wait what? Peter...what happened to Gwen? Peter! Where's Gwen?!" Scott asked getting angry. "WHY ARE YOU GETTING SO ANGRY?! HUH?! YOU NEVER KNEW HER!! YOU WEREN'T THERE WHEN SHE...when she...when she-" I slumped into my desk chair. I looked down at my floor. "Peter...what are you talking about? When she what? What happened to her?" Scott asked. "...Gwen is dead...she died...because I couldn't get to her in time...because my webs couldn't reach her." "I'm sorry did you just 'your webs'?" Peter asked. I got annoyed with him asking questions and webbed his mouth shut. "She was falling down a collapsing clocktower. I was being choked to death by a friend of mine who went nuts from something that he injected into himself. I had been holding on to Gwen by my web. A gear was getting ready to snap the web....and then it did. Gwen fell down the clocktower and I kicked Harry off me knocking him unconscious. I dove down after her. I shot my web at her. The web finally attracted to her. I had grabbed ahold of a metal bar jutting out. The web became tight. I looked down to see Gwen laying motionless in the air. I dropped down next to her...she was already gone before I could reach her....she died because of me. Her father died because of me, my uncle Ben died because of me, Allison died because of me, and Aiden died because of me. All their deaths were my fault." I said.

"What are you guys doing here?" I asked breaking the silence. "We need help with something. We wanted Gwen's help knowing how she had a knack for science stuff. Now she's dead and now you're our best bet." Derek answered. "What kind of science stuff are we talking about?" "This kind." Lydia said pulling a glass cylinder out of a bag. It had a black goop inside of it. "What is it?" I asked taking the container, looking at it. "We were hoping you could tell us. We found it inside a meteorite that crashed intk the Nemeton." Derek said. "So wait...a meteorite just so happens to crash into the Nemeton and this...this thing was found inside of it? If that wasn't a big hint then I don't know what is." I said as I sat in the chair studying the goop. It followed my movements like a mesmerized snake in a basket. "Why is it following me?" "No idea. It never moved for any of us. This is the first time it's moved. Ever." Scott said. "Cassie hand me that glass box over there." I said. She handed it to me. I opened the container slowly and carefully. The goop began to travel out of the cylinder. It was making its way towards my fingers. I closed the glass box over the goop. It went nuts. "What the hell?" I said. It was trying to break the box. "It's smart I'll tell you that...sentient too." I stated. I turned to the others. "I'm keeping this with me so I can study it some more." I said. "Fine by me." Scott said. "Oh and Peter we need to tell you something." "Wait shut up." I said turning my head to the window. I heard sirens off in the distance. I heard radio chatter about a fire in a skyscraper. I stripped down to my Spider-Man suit and jumped out the window.

"Did he just? Did he just dress up in a full red and blue body suit and jump out the window?" Peter asked. "Yes yes he did." I said. "It's his job to save people." "Him? Skinny defenseless sarcastic Peter? A hero? Ha! I needed some laughter right now. Thank you for that." Peter said laughing. "Oh really? Lets just turn the tv on and see the breaking news shall we?" I said turning the tv on. A live broadcast of a burning skyscraper was being shown. A brief shot of a red and blue figure on the ground talking to the firefighter chief. He then took to the skies and swung into the burning building. He reappeared minutes later jumping out of the building with a little girl in his arms as the floor he jumped out of exploded. I turned to the ignorant man named Peter, "Now you believe me?" I asked leaving the room and then the house.

I arrived back home in my suit crawling into my room through the window. I collapsed on my bed after closing and locking the door. I was still wearing my spidey suit. Not bothering to change my clothes. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

The sentient black slime continued to push the glass box across to the edge of the desk more and more. The side of the box made an opening for the black slime. It slid down the desk, to the floor. It made its way to the bed that its new potential host occupied. As the slime crawled up the bed, nearing the hand of the human being; the being twitched. The slime stopped for a second and continued on to its goal. The slime made contact with the human and began to envelop the being in black taking the shape of the suit the human wore. It soon had completely enveloped the boy. The boy was now wearing a full black version of his red and blue spider suit.
The boy never noticed the drastic change in his suit.
