You had never ran faster in your life. You could tell that Jongdae was agitated. Something was very wrong. Jongdae sprinted down the steps to the dungeon before spotting Kai on the ground, choking and clutching at something around his neck.
"Jongin!! What is it?! What's-... Oh no... No, no, no... No!" Jongdae screamed as he saw what was causing the problem. A collar made out of silver had been locked around Kai's neck and he was writhing in pain because of the burning.
"Oh my god! What do we do?!" You asked in a panic. Jongdae tried to sooth Kai but he couldn't do much due to the fact that he also would get hurt if he touched the silver.
"I can't do anything. I'm helpless." Jongdae sobbed. You tried to remove the collar but Kai slapped at your hands as the silver touched new areas on his neck.
"I'm sorry." You whimpered.
Suddenly, Jongdae screamed and gripped the collar in his hands. Steam rose from his hands as he ripped the collar free from Kai's neck. Jongdae tossed the metal away and cradled his hands gingerly, growling as the pain increased. You ripped some cloth off of Kai's already very ripped shirt, hoping that he wouldn't care. You wrapped the piece around one hand before repeating the action. Jongdae hissed and winced as you worked.
"I know. We need to get out of here. Minho could come back at any second." You said, guiding Jongdae to stand. He bent down and picked up a very hurt and exhausted Kai. He carried him up the stairs and out of the dungeon before racing to the Forest.
When you were safely hidden in the bushes, Jongdae examined Kai's neck. It was bleeding heavily and there was barely any skin left where the collar had been. Kai was still struggling to breath as his bleeding got worse.
"Hang in there, hyung. We'll get you back home." Jongdae said softly as Kai fumbled around for something. He pulled Tao's blanket out of his pocket but there was something wrapped up inside of it. He handed it to you before falling limp on the ground. You carefully unwrapped the blanket to find the poker he was supposed to retrieve.
"Oh my god! You did it! You did well, Kai. Thank you so much. We'll take care of you." You said, gently running your hands through his hair. He relaxed but was still choking.
"We need to get him home. Kai, can you-... Jongin?" Jongdae started before staring down at his friend. Kai had grown cold and his body turned stiff. He wasn't choking anymore. He was dead. Jongdae screamed as he pulled Kai's body into his chest.
"No! No, no, no!! Jongin, please! Don't leave me! Please! You're my best friend, I can't lose you!" He sobbed. You couldn't stop the tears that flooded out of your eyes at the sight of your mate crying over his best friend's lifeless body. You scooted closer to him and held him as he cried.
"Minseok! Help me! Help me please! I need you!" Jongdae cried out as he sent a thought to his pack. A few minutes went by before Xuimin and Suho appeared through the bushes. Junmyeon shifted and ran to Jongdae's side.
"What happened?" He asked in a panic when he saw Kai. Jongdae flung himself into his alpha's arms as he tried to explain what happened.
"He... There was a silver collar on him... I took it off but it did too much damage... He's dead!" Jongdae whimpered. Junmyeon's eyes widened as he looked at his spy. He pulled Kai's body off the ground and draped it over Xuimin's back. The creme colored wolf whimpered, squeezing his eyes shut as tears rolled down his face. Junmyeon hugged his neck as the wolf cried.
"I know, Min. I know." Junmyeon said sadly. You helped Jongdae up and supported him as you followed Junmyeon and Xuimin back to the house. Jongdae was a wreck, sobbing the whole way back.
