A Moonlit Dream

Chapter 24

A few weeks had gone by and you had grown so much since the start of your pregnancy. Tao had been right. You had one more week left and you felt like you were about to burst. Jongdae's fatherly instincts had kicked in sooner than expected because if anyone even looked at you the wrong way, he snapped.

Once, you had been eating quite a bit of food at dinner and Sehun had given you a surprised look when he saw how much you were eating. When Jongdae saw that, he practically barked at Sehun. Junmyeon knew that it was only because he was being protective of you and his baby but he still told him off.

"Jongdae, calm down. He didn't mean anything by it." The alpha said calmly. Jongdae immediately relaxed and went back to eating.

In regards to the borders, Namjoon and Junmyeon had had regular meetings to try and work out new borders but all that resulted from them was more heated arguing. The constant head butting hurt your head and frankly, Jongdae was sick of it.

That day started out like any other. You stayed in bed most of the day, your mate bringing you whatever you needed. Tao had a feeling that the baby would come early so he put you on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy to make sure you didn't hurt yourself.

"Hey, love. How are you feeling?" He asked when he came back in from border patrol. He always found himself rubbing your swollen belly but you didn't mind.

"I feel huge. I want to not be pregnant anymore." You groaned as you tried to roll over on your side. Jongdae helped you situate yourself in a more comfortable position.

"I know, princess. Soon. I promise. I can feel him. It's almost like he's saying that he loves us." He smiled, rubbing your stomach.

"What makes you think it's a boy? It could be a girl." You giggled.

"No. I can feel his tough, manliness. That's my little boy in there." He laughed, leaning down to kiss you softly.

Suddenly, Minseok burst into your room, making Jongdae growl.

"What is it?!" He snarled, standing in front of you like Minseok posed a threat for your safety.

"Namjoon and his pack. They're here to start a fight. We need all hands on deck. Ready?"

"Always. Give me a sec. I'll meet you downstairs. Listen, babe. I'll be back. I love you. If you need me, do what?" Jongdae said softly.

"Send a thought. Please be careful." You smiled as he kissed you.

"I'm always careful." Jongdae smirked before rushing downstairs.

You could hear the East Side pack yelling outside and you sat up with some difficulty to look outside. You could see Namjoon and Jungkook and five other Wolves you had never seen before. You felt the baby kick as you watched your mate leap onto a Wolf with dark brown fur.

"It's okay, baby. Daddy's coming back." You said softly while rubbing the spot that it was kicking.

After a few minutes, you felt a harsh kick and then a sharp pain. You hissed right before a rush of liquid spurted out of you and all over the bed. You started to panic, not prepared for this to happen now.

"No, no, no!" You whimpered. You thought hard as you tried to send a thought to your mate. You watched him perk up and look towards your window. He quickly bolted up the front steps and rushed inside. He knocked frantically on Tao's door before throwing open the door to your room.

"Hey, hey! It's okay. I'm here. Remember what Tao said. Remember to breath, alright? You're gonna be okay. I'm right here. Tao's getting supplies but he's coming too. You're alright." Jongdae said softly as he could feel you starting to panic. Another sharp pain shot through you and this time, you whined.

"Hey! I'm here! Okay, how far apart are your contractions?" Tao asked as he set out some towels and quickly got to work undressing your lower half.

"Ahhh... I-I don't know... Maybe five minutes? Fuck, this hurts so bad!" You breathed heavily as Jongdae stroked your hair. He kissed your head and whispered soothing things into your ear.

"I know it hurts, baby. I know. But after it's over, we'll have our little boy or little girl. I'll be happy with either. As long as they're healthy." He smiled, trying to distract you from your pain.

You felt Tao's finger checking to see how dilated you were and he pulled away to grab some sponges and warm water to smooth and clean the area.

"You're doing great, (y/n). Just a few more centimeters. You're five centimeters already. I can already tell this is gonna be over really soon. Jongdae, just keep her calm and focused, alright? That's your job. Calm and focused." Tao said calmly. Your mate nodded and squeezed your hand.

Once you were fully dilated, it was time to push. Tao pushed your legs back a bit more and counted to three, signaling for you to start pushing. It was the most excruciating pain you had ever felt. You screamed out loud as Jongdae rubbed your shoulders.

"You're doing great, baby. C'mon. You got this." Jongdae whispered softly into your ear. You pushed again and again and again until you heard the sound of a baby crying. You let out a sigh of relief as your whole body relaxed. Tao cleaned off the baby before settling it on your chest.

"Congratulations! It's a little girl." He said softly. You smiled down at the little baby in your arms. She was so small and she had Jongdae's nose.

"Wow. She's gorgeous. Hey, beautiful. I'm your Appa. Yeah, that's me. You look like your Eomma. She's so beautiful just like you. I can't describe to you how much I am in love with you." Jongdae said through his happy tears as Tao left the room to let you bond with the baby uninterrupted. You wiped your tears and kissed your baby's small lips.

"She's perfect." You smiled before Jongdae leaned in to kiss you.

"I love you so much. Thank you for giving me this chance." Jongdae said softly. You smiled through the kiss and looked down at the baby.

"Would you like to hold her?" You smiled. His face lit up and he nodded, gently taking her from your arms and rocking her back and forth. He started to sing to her and your heart melted. You never heard him sing before and he had the most beautiful voice.

Watching Jongdae with your daughter made you so happy and you never wanted anything more than this.
