In the morning, Jongdae was the first one to wake up, or so he thought. He checked on Soomi to see that she was still asleep so he left his room and jogged down the stairs. He yawned and ruffled his messy bed hair as he turned to walk into the kitchen. He was expecting to see Kyungsoo preparing breakfast but he instead saw Jisoo and Chanyeol. Jisoo was wearing one of Chanyeol's button downs that didn't leave much to the imagination.
"Good morning. Sleep well or did you not sleep at all? From the marks on your neck and the faded scent of sex, I'd say the latter." Jongdae scoffed as he pushed passed Chanyeol to get to the tea kettle. Chanyeol growled and Jisoo blushed a deep shade of red.
"We slept fine. Thanks for asking." Chanyeol gritted his teeth as he watched the older Wolf start the water for his morning tea. Jisoo stayed quiet as she sipped her coffee. The four sat in an uncomfortable silence as Jongdae finished up his tea before cleaning up and taking it outside to sit on the porch.
"What's his problem?" Jisoo asked, setting down her mug. Chanyeol did the same before walking over to her and wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
"He's just mad because his mate isn't as pretty as you are." He smirked before placing a soft kiss to her lips. Jisoo smiled softly before shrugging him off and continuing.
"Hey, that's not very nice. I think (y/n) is very beautiful. There's a real reason he's acting this way and I think I know what it is. He's upset that Dongsoo and I are still here. When he looks at my son, all he can see is Minho. Do you know what he did to cause Jongdae to have these feelings?"
"Yes but it's kind of a long story. Minho used to be obsessed with (y/n). He was dead set on marrying her but then she met Jongdae in the woods and they hit it off, like mates tend to do. Minho was mad that she "abandoned him" and he tried to take her away. When that didn't work, he killed one of our own and tried to come back and kill the rest of us. He almost succeeded in killing Jongdae and he killed (y/n)'s father. After all that, Jongdae has good reason to hate him but he shouldn't be having these feelings toward a child. He'll come around soon. Don't worry." Chanyeol explained, hoping that he had answered all of her questions. He was not expecting her next question.
"I understand. I heard that Minho was killed by wolves. I'm assuming it was Jongdae who killed him. Right?" The tall Wolf cleared his throat and stared at the floor. Jisoo stared at him, trying to read his face but finding it impossible.
"Chanyeol? Who killed him?" She asked again. He looked back at her before responding.
"I did. I killed him. He was going to hurt (y/n) and Jongdae was injured. In our pack, I'm our leader when it comes to battles. I'm our general. I can't stand by and let a member of the pack get hurt. I had to do it to save her. Jongdae would have killed me if I let anything happen to her." He confessed, watching as Jisoo's face turned from calm to horrified.
"It was you?" She said softly. Chanyeol hung his head in shame but he didn't understand why she was upset.
"I'm sorry, Ji-..." He stared to apologize before she hugged him around his neck.
"Thank you." She whispered as tears started to cloud her vision. Chanyeol felt how strong her emotions were and wrapped both arms around her waist.
"You're welcome. I'm so sorry for everything he did to you. I won't let anyone hurt you ever again. I'm here to keep you and Dongsoo safe. I know you've raised him for the last seven years but I'll take over now. I'll continue to raise him as if he were my own child. I'm prepared for the responsibility. You don't need to worry anymore. I'm here." Chanyeol whispered to her, making her cling to him as she cried harder.
After Jisoo was calmed down, (y/n) started making her way downstairs holding a babbling Soomi in her arms. The little girl had grown so much since she was born. She was now the size of a three year old but she was only two and a half weeks old. The baby squealed when she saw Chanyeol and she begged for her mother to put her down. When she did, Soomi shifted and bounded towards Chanyeol. He laughed and shifted as well, surprising Jisoo as she watched them. The two Wolves played with each other, pawing and nipping gently at each other's paws. (y/n) smiled before whistling. Jangmi shifted into Soomi and she waddled back to her mother. Chanyeol shifted as well before looking at Jisoo.
"Sorry about that. I have a weakness for her." He chuckled, rubbing his neck shyly. (y/n) laughed as she picked up the chunky toddler.
"As much as Jongdae hates to admit it, you are her favorite uncle. Speaking of my hot headed dog, where is he?" She asked, balancing the baby on her hip.
"Outside." Chanyeol said before (y/n) walked outside. She set Soomi down so she could waddle to her father. She had just started walking this morning and he hadn't seen it yet.
"Appa!" She squealed as she placed both hands on his leg to steady herself. He jumped when he saw her, not expecting her to be supporting herself.
"Little Rosebud! Look at you walking! I'm so proud of you! When did this start?!" He asked (y/n) excitedly.
"She did it when I was getting dressed. I set her down on her play mat with her toys and she waddled up behind me all by herself."
"Wow! Good job, baby girl! Wanna go run with Appa?" He asked her, making her bounce in excitement. Jongdae shifted into Chen and waited for her to shift before picking her up by her scruff and settling her back down on the dirt. She ran around in circles chasing her own tail before Chen distracted her with his own. Jangmi let out a high pitched bark before chasing after her father. The sight made (y/n) smile and she knew her baby girl wasn't so much of a baby anymore.
