A Moonlit Dream

Chapter 32

  "What the hell are you doing?! What did you do?!" Jongdae snarled as he loomed over Dongsoo. Soomi's crying only got louder as she sensed the tension in the room.

  "I-I didn't..." Dongsoo stammered before (y/n), Chanyeol and his mother burst into the room. (y/n) hurried towards the crib and held Soomi against her chest, her cries ceasing immediately.

  "Jongdae, he didn't do anything." Chanyeol said calmly. The angry wolf turned and snarled at the taller wolf.

  "He is the asshole's kid! I refuse to trust him just because he is a child! Children grow up to be monsters and I don't want him around my daughter!" Jongdae growled before turning back towards Dongsoo. Claws erupted from the tips of his fingers. His canines grew into fangs and his ears became pointy. Jongdae took two large steps towards Dongsoo before Chanyeol shifted completely and shoved him away from the boy. Jisoo pulled her son against her and pressed them both against a wall, watching as the two wolves fought. Chanyeol bit Jongdae's shoulder before pinning him to the ground. He shifted back to his human form and Jongdae did the same.

  "Enough!" A loud growl sounded from the hall and Junmyeon stood in the doorway. Chanyeol stood up and cracked his neck before walking over to Dongsoo. He bent down and placed a hand under his chin.

  "Are you alright?" He asked softly, being careful not to scare him anymore than he already was.

  "I'm okay... I-I'm sorry..."

  "It's alright, Dongsoo. You didn't do anything wrong. Ji, take him downstairs. Ask Minseok for Tao. He's our pack's healer. He'll help him calm down." Chanyeol said softly before leading the two to the stairs before coming back inside.

  "Now. Tell me what the hell just happened." Junmyeon growled. Jongdae sat up and rubbed his shoulder which was starting to bleed slightly from Chanyeol's bite.

  "I heard Soomi crying so I came in to check on her and I found him snooping around in my bedroom! I connected two and two together and I exploded." Jongdae explained as (y/n) kneeled beside him to inspect his wound. He winced as Junmyeon grabbed a fistful of his hair and forced his head back so he was looking up at him.

  "We do not attack children and you know that! No matter who their parents are! I should throw you out and never allow you back here but I'm not going to do that and keep my granddaughter away from her father. I don't believe in separating a child from their parents. You're lucky and walking on thin ice, Jongdae!" Junmyeon growled in his face, throwing him on the ground before storming out of the room. Chanyeol followed the alpha to the door before stopping and looking back at Jongdae, shaking his head before leaving the room.

  Jongdae sighed and slumped against (y/n) for physical and emotional support.

  "I'm sorry you had to see that..." He mumbled. She shook her head and nuzzled into the crook of his neck.

  "It's okay but you need to listen to me. I appreciate the protectiveness but you need to tone it down. Dongsoo is no threat to our little girl. His mother raised him. Not Minho. She raised him to be good. He is a sweetheart. You just have to talk to him. You'll see." (y/n) said softly.

  "I'll try as hard as I can but it's too hard to overlook his scent. He smells like Minho and it makes me furious to think about. He hurt you and your family. He took Jongin from us. I can't forget that." Jongdae sighed, burying his face in his hands. (y/n) hugged him tighter and kissed his head.

  "I know, baby. Just keep reminding yourself that Dongsoo is his own person. He never met his father and it is unfair to treat him differently. You can do this. Start by apologizing to them. You'll see." She said before standing up and leaving the room, leaving Jongdae alone with his sleeping daughter in the crib.
