Chapter 36

When Chen entered the bedroom, he dragged the pillows and blankets down to the ground and started to make what looked like a nest. You were slightly confused but you figured he knew what he was doing. Once he was finished, he looked to you and motioned for you to place Jangmi between his paws. You did as you were told and watched him closely.

The large wolf laid down with his pup and licked her face gently. She whimpered and cuddled close to him.

"You're safe now. Just relax, sweetheart. Appa's here." Chen said as Jangmi started to get comfortable.

"What is this gonna do?" You asked your mate as you sat down next to him.

"It's going to help her calm down. She can't shift until she's comfortable." Chen responded before nuzzling against your arm. You smiled and scratched behind his ear.

"You're such a good father. I love you. Do you need anything? Water? Food?"

"Water and some sliced beef would be nice." Chen sighed as he laid his head down on Jangmi, being careful with her neck. You nodded and left the room to go downstairs.

When you got to the kitchen, Kyungsoo was there preparing lunch.

"Hey, Soo. Would you mind cutting up some beef for Chen? Jangmi had an accident so he can't really leave her right now." You explained.

"Oh of course! Give me a second." He smiled before going to the fridge and taking out a slab of raw beef. He thinly sliced it and placed the pieces on a plate. He also filled a bowl with water and followed you up the stairs. A low growl could be heard as you entered the room.

"Calm down, baby. Kyungsoo has your water." You said as the Wolf set down the bowl before leaving the room. Chen watched him leave before lapping from the bowl. You set down the plate with the beef and sat down next to your mate. Jangmi was snuggled against her father's paw. Her body was still shaky but she was quiet. Chen nuzzled her with his nose, making her squeak. He huffed before taking a slice of beef from the plate.

  "What are we going to do about that other Wolf?" You asked.

  "I don't know. I'll talk to Junmyeon when she's okay for me to leave." Chen said as he ate some more. You sat down on the floor next to him and stroked your baby's ear. She nuzzled into your hand. You could feel the shakiness start to fade.

"That's it, baby. You're safe now. Appa's right here to protect you." You whispered to her as you stroked Chen's head.

"She's starting to relax. She should be shifting soon." He said softly, nuzzling her gently. You nodded before Jangmi twisted around on the ground and Soomi came back. Chen shifted as well, leaving Jongdae in his place.

  "Good girl." Your mate smiled as he picked her up and held her close to his chest. He handed her to you before leaving the room.

  "I'm gonna go talk to Junmyeon." He said on his way out the door.
