I went to the liquor store with Sadie. It was so hot out it felt like I was in a boiler room. Sadie wore her flip flops, jean shorts, and a black tank top, while I wore my baggy ripped jeans, and an oversized yellow shirt with a belt. "When are you gonna see Finn again?" The red head asked as she looked in the cool isle. "I dunno. I hope soon." I followed her. There was a loose thread on my shirt and it gave me anxiety. "Aha!" Sadie smiled at the collection of Heineken bottles that Gaten asked for. "These are the ones right?" She asked as we walked up to pay. I just shrugged, hoping it was.

We payed for everything, and walked out to the car. "God dammit it's so hot out." Sadie grimaced, covering her eyes from the scorching  sun. "I'm sorry again." I say as I buckled my seat belt. "Hm?" Sadie asked. "About prom." I answered. Sadie lowered her head, shrugging her shoulders. "Eh, it's fine. Besides, I hate dances anyways." She explained. I just nodded slowly, adjusting the air conditioning vent.

The next few weeks flew by.

I saw Finn more on than off, Gaten and Noah became really close, Sadie got a new job, Sophia got a boyfriend, and Caleb and I have been talking more, which was weird in a way. Finn held my hand as we walked into town together. "C'mon." The taller boy said, leading me into the smoke shop. It was scary in there. Mostly because there was motorcycle junkies with a million tattoos, who all looked like they wanted to hurt me. I shuffled close to Finn as a few of them kept eyeing me. I didn't make eye contact, I just followed Finn. "What are we doing?" I said with a shaky voice. Finn grabbed a free sample of a cigarette pipe. He lit it, giving me a try at it. I was nervous, but I gave it a go. I stuck it in my mouth, bowing out the smoke, coughing a little after. Finn smiled at me as he placed a hand on my back, leading me out of the shop. One of the guys with tattoos over his huge arms stood up, his chair squeaking a little. I felt small and useless as I stared up at him. Finn turned suddenly, squeezing my hand. "What's your name angle?" He asked in a deep voice. "Hey, fuck off will ya." Finn scoffed at the older man, holding my waist. I gulped as the older man pushed Finn aside. "I was asking her a question." He growled at Finn. I wanted to fight back, but Finn lost his temper. He punched the man in the face roughly. The other group of guys all stood up. I watched as the cashier tried to break up the fight. "Stop! Finn!" I tried to pull Finn back but he pushed me away. I fell back onto the floor below. Finn was hit to the ground, being punched and swung at hit at every second. He was being defeated, and I couldn't let him. I stood up, clenching my fist, and throwing a swing at the man in the nose, and kicking him in the crotch. Finn fought back, grunting as he was hit in the ribs. All I remember was Finn's elbow being forced into my left eye and nose. I fell back in pain, holding my eye and nose. My whole body shook as blood began to drip down my face. I started to sob quietly as the police car parked outside, and two officers running inside. "Hey!" One shouted loudly, making me flinch. "Finn!" I screamed at him, as he fought back the police officer. "Stop!" I shouted, holding his arm. His jean jacket fell off his body, exposing his black T shirt. The cops finally cuffed the man, slamming him down to a table. Finn had a huge black eye, a purple and bruised nose, and a huge fat bleeding lip. Once he finally looked back at me, he was being held down my a police man, and being hand cuffed. "Millie?" His voice sounded shaky and scared. His eyes widened at the sight of my face. "I hurt you.." he started to panic. I didn't answer, I was so shaken up I couldn't speak. "Get off!" Finn jerked as he was brought out to a police car, as was I.

What have we done.

I sat in the waiting room of the police station in town. It was small, but not too small. I observed it as I held an ice pack up to my bruised face. I couldn't even touch my eye it hurt to bad. I applied the ice to my nose and a cloth to stop the blood from gushing out.

It wasn't Finn's fault.

He was trying to protect me. I kept telling myself that. I looked down at my black converse at how dirty they were. Finn had to stay here for the past three hours because he assaulted a police officer. I felt bad for him. I wanted to see him even though he was in the other room, it felt like he was miles away. Sadie caught my eye as she came rushing in, followed by Noah. "Millie? What the hell happened?" Noah hugged me close, as did Sadie. "Ow." I winced as they both released my body from theirs. "It's a long story." I sat back down. "Where's Finn?" Sadie looked around. "He's being held in custody for assaulting a police officer." I said in pain. "What the fuck Finn?" Sadie said so loud, I think New England heard her. "Shut up." Noah hit her shoulder. I saw Sadie's eyes lighten at the sight of Finn walking out of the interrogation room. He looked beat up and sad. "Finn.." I ran over to him, jumping into his arms as he held me tightly. "Are you okay?" I held his face with my hands. He kissed his eyes and fell into me. Sadie, Noah and I helped him out to the car, laying him in the back seat.

We helped Finn into Sadie's house. "Is your mom in?" Noah whispered. Sadie shook her head, lying Finn down on the couch while Noah got me more ice. "I think he'll wake up later Mills." Sadie said, telling me to leave him for a while. I walked into the kitchen as Sadie wrapped an arm around my neck.
