"See ya Mills!" Sadie called out, running out the door for work. "Kay." I shouted back. I popped another piece of gum in my mouth, as I tried to pull my underwear up, almost fell over doing so. Today I didn't really have any plans except for work. I read the strange dictionary from Sadie's book shelf like always.

I looked over at the clock. It was broken, and had been since I arrived here! I hit it twice, making it switch to the correct time.

7:53 am.

"Shit!" I gritted my teeth, zipping up my shorts and throwing my work shirt on, not bothering to clip up my bra. "Bye Noah!" I screamed. I slammed the front door behind me, starting to sprint-walk into town.

The cafe I worked at was small, and the only cafe in town.. So I had it pretty good and got paid pretty decently, but not the best. I entered the back door quickly, hoping that I wasn't too late. "Hey Sophia," I whispered, putting on my apron and tying the back. "Hey," she smiled. "what took so long?" I followed her into the front of the store, as she stood at the cashier while I wet a cloth at the sink. "I slept in." I tucked my hair behind my ears. "Ha." She chuckled. "So how's freckles doing?" She teased. "Shut up." My face turned red as I started to wash the counter.

Sophia introduced me to a bunch of her friends who I've never seen before. She told me they were from California visiting. I was a little shy, like always. I stood behind Sophia, nervously playing with my thumb ring. One of the boys had a million tattoos, and I was scared to shake his hand. "this is Millie," Sophia greeted me to everyone. I smiled awkwardly. "be nice guys.. she's new in town." Sophia smirked at her friends. I shook his hand softly. His skin was rough, but not like Finn's. Finn's was nicer.

I got a ride with Sophia like usual, thanking her and going around the back kitchen door like always. I stopped in my tracks at the sight of Noah, sitting at the kitchen table with Sadie. They both looked depressed. "What's the matter..?" I asked, pulling my hoodie over my head. "It's my mom," Sadie began. "She's comin home early." She sat up on the counter. I stood there with no expression on my face. Noah bounced his knee up and down. "Oh.." was all I could say. I sat on the counter beside Sadie, "What do we do now." I sighed, taking one last glance at Noah, who stared back at me in wonder.

What would we do? There's no where to go, aside from a hotel. We could go to Finn's, or Sophia's..? But Finn's Dad was sick, and he wouldn't want us in the house, and Sophia's parents don't even know me!

6:44 pm.

I sat on the roof with my brunette best friend. I didn't quite know what to say, or talk about. I thought about my painting I was working on. I couldn't wait to finish it. That was my goal.

"We're in a pickle Mills." Noah swung his legs over the edge of the roof, with his hands tucked under his thighs. I frowned as I noticed he had shaved his legs. "Noah," My voice cracked. "did you shave your legs?" I giggled. Noah rolled his eyes, punching me softly. "Shut up." He groaned. "Anyways," I sighed. "we gotta get outta here." Noah finished my sentence. I didn't want to leave, I really didn't, but I knew Noah was getting antsy. "I can't go back Noah," I lowered my head. "there's too much memories there." I looked back up at the sky.

I never told anyone that my mom was buried here in New Jersey.

No one, not even Noah knew. I didn't tell anyone because it was too personal to me, and I kept bursting into tears every time I mentioned it to myself. I don't even know if Dad ever knew. He didn't give a scrap about Mom, but they must of married for something. Mom was young, and had decent money, while Dad was always a drunky. I knew that I was a mistake. I didn't think my parents intended to have a child, even if they did Dad wanted a boy. I never met any other family members either. Dad had no siblings, and was brought up in an orphanage in Canada. Mom had no siblings either, and her parents passed when she was my age. She was born here, that's why I kept it a secret for so long. I didn't know if I should tell Noah or not. I mean, he's my best friend, brother even! I've known him since I was 2 years old.

I was about to tell Noah, but he beat me to it.

"I hoped you had a great birthday Mills, I really do." He pursed his lips into a small smile. "I did." I squeezed his hand as he lay back, staring at the sky above. I lay beside him, "you should go see him." Noah blurted out, resting his arm on his stomach. "Hm?" "Finn." He said. I didn't respond, I just wanted to lie down for a while, not saying anything.

I wanted to see Finn so badly. But his mom was home, along with his dad. I sort of felt bad that his old man had cancer, but I couldn't resist this boy. It's almost like when he leaves my body shakes. I clenched my fists as I knocked on his window, crouched down like always. My knees started to hurt as he didn't answer like he usually did right away. I tapped again. I could see him on his messy bed, with a spilt box of Camels cigarettes on the floor, and bags under his eyes. I started to worry. I called out his name. "Finn.." I called. He didn't answer. This wasn't Finn. This was a whole other Finn whom I hadn't met yet. What was wrong with him? I wondered.
This time I banged on the window twice. He finally looked up at me, with almost an annoyed look on his face, making me feel a little scared. He pulled the sliding window up over his head, leaning out the window and grabbing my face. He planted his mouth onto mine, kissing me roughly. It was honestly really difficult to kiss Finn when I'm out the window and he's on his tippy toes inside of his bedroom. He placed a hand on my thigh, pulling me inside.

Finn's POV:

I had to see her.

This girl was going to be the death of me.

I couldn't cope with everything else that was going on, and I had been crying my eyes out for days now. I was just to fucked up to tell her.
I pulled her body inside the window, throwing her on the bed with mine. It felt nice to finally kiss Millie again, hold her, hug her, and just love her. I needed that more than ever. "You're so beautiful." I kissed her neck. Millie Brown was one of the most beautiful, sexy, adorable, and funniest girl I had ever met. I loved her so much. "I love you too, curly." She pulled my head into her chest for a hug. Her hands lay on my curly head as I shut my tired eyes. I wrapped my arms around her hips and we both fell asleep.

6:02 am.

I opened my eyes slowly, eyeing Millie as her chest raised up and down as she slept. I shifted my head a little, slowly reaching for my pack of Camel cigarettes, trying not to wake her. She was so hot even when she slept, I think I was drooling a little. Caleb tells me whenever I see her, or even talk to her, I drool. I try not to but fuck, like I said, she's the death of me.
It was raining outside again. I wanted to take her out, but I didn't want to wake her up. I blew out a bunch of smoke, as I noticed Millie moving her body upwards. "Finn..?" She sounded like a little kid in the morning. She rubbed her eyes. "Hey baby girl." I pulled her waist back slowly, allowing her to rest her back on my chest. "I love you so much." I heard her whisper. "I fucking love you more." I whispered in her pierced ear.
