Chapter 36.
The next day everyone was in the Great Hall watching who was putting their names into the Goblet of Fire. The one and only Cedric Diggory came up and put his name in it. I did not like Cedric.
"Self-obsessed prick," I muttered as he walked past.
The twins came in yelling "Yeeeeesssss!" while people were clapping for them.
"Thank you, thank you. Well, lads, we've done it. Cooked it up just this morning," Fred and George said.
"It isn't going to work," Hermione said in a sing-song kinda voice.
"Oh yeah, and why's that, Granger?" George asked.
"You see this? This is an age line, Dumbledore drew it himself," she said.
"So?" Fred asked.
"So, a genius like Dumbledore couldn't be possibly fooled by a thought as pathetically dim-witted as an aging potion," she explained.
"Ah, but that's why it's so brilliant, because it's so pathetically dim-witted," they both said.
"Ready, Fred?" George asked.
"Ready, George."
"Bottoms up," they chorused, chugging their aging potion.
They jumped through the age line and nothing happened. The whole crowd cheered for them. They then put their names into the Goblet. Nothing happened for a little bit but then they were pushed out of the age line, falling to the floor a few meters away. Their hair turned grey and they very long grew beards.
"But you said--"
"But you said--"
They started to fight.
Everything went quiet as Viktor Krum came in and placed his name in the Goblet. Everyone cheered and I could have sworn I saw him send a wink towards Hermione.
I looked over at Hermione to see her blushing slightly.
"Got an admirer, have we?" I asked playfully.
"Yeah, right." She rolled her eyes.
"It could happen. So, when do we find out who has gotten the places?" I asked.
"Now, everyone please be seated. We will see who the players are," Dumbledore said.
"Does that answer your question?" Hermione asked.
"Yup."
The fire turned red and spat out a piece of red parchment.
"The champion of Durmstrang is Viktor Krum."
The fire turned red again before spitting out a light blue piece if paper.
"From Beauxbatons, the champion is Fleur Delacour."
The fire turned red once more before spitting a normal coloured piece of parchment.
"The champion of Hogwarts is Cedric Diggory," Dumbledore announced.
Most of us were about to leave when the fire turned red and spat out another piece of parchment.
"Harry and Savannah Potter! Harry and Savannah Potter!" Dumbledore yelled.
Hermione pushed us forwards but I clung onto Draco with as much strength as I could muster.
"Savannah, go. You have to."
"I didn't put my name in, I swear. I would never!" I whisper-shouted.
I got up and walked with Harry. Dumbledore sent us a glare that could kill thousands.
Harry and I made it into the room to wait with the rest if the champions.
"How are you here?" Cedric asked.
"I don't know, Harry, do you know? I didn't put my name in, I swear, I would never. Plus, I was with Draco the whole time. And if I had put my name in, everyone would have seen," I said.
"I didn't put our names in, Savannah, if that's what you are suggesting. I don't want to be in this stupid tournament," Harry said.
"Harry, Savannah. Did you out your names in the Goblet of Fire?" Dumbledore asked calmly.
"No," we both answered.
"Did you ask someone older to put them in for you?" he asked.
"No!" Harry and I said.
"You know we wouldn't put our names in the Goblet. So why would you ask? Do you suddenly not trust us?" I asked.
"No. I have to make sure. Minister, what do we do?" he asked.
"They have to play. They were chosen."
"But they are only fourteen. They are just children," Mcgonagall said.
"I know, but we have to go by what the Minister says," Dumbledore said.
"Don't we get any say in the matter? We don't want to do it, so why do we have to? These three wanted to. It's dangerous. Nobody in their right mind would choose to enter a tournament as barbaric as this one. Cedric, don't give me that look. I don't like you. As for you two, I don't know you, but from your judgement, if putting yourself in the tournament you are probably psychopaths! Now, Harry and I will not be doing the tournament!" I yelled.
"I'm sorry, Miss Potter, I really am. But you have to play and so does Harry. You are all dismissed," Dumbledore said, his voice showing no emotion.
I stormed out of the room to see everyone still there.
"What the bloody hell are you looking at? And just so everyone if you knows. Harry and I didn't put our names in the goblet. I wouldn't dream of ever putting my name in that! Now go mind your own business!" I yelled.
"Miss Potter, may I speak with you?" Snape asked.
"Sure, Professor." I smiled and followed him out of the room.
"I believe that you didn't put your name in the Goblet. I don't believe that you would do that. I just wanted you to know that I am here to help you anytime you need it. I can help, but I can't give answers."
"Thank you, Professor. I am sure to come to you. This tournament is going to kill me, isn't it?" I asked.
"Probably. I think it will kill you more mentally than physically, but yes. I get what you mean. Now, go find Draco, he has been on edge since you went into that room," Snape said.
"Thank you, Professor." I smiled and walked back out.
I was glad to see everyone had gone except for Draco. I ran into his arms.
"You believe me, right? I didn't put my name in the Goblet. I swear to you, I--"
I started explaining but was cut off when Draco pressed his lips to mine.
"Ssh. I believe you, forever and always. I know you would never. Plus, you were with me the whole time. I would have noticed if you put your name in the Goblet. So would have everyone else. People just believe the first thing they hear or think of. But I know you, Savannah. I know you would never even dream of doing this. I just want you to know that I am with you all of the way. I will always be here for you." He smiled.
I grinned, then gave him a firm but loving kiss.
"Come on. You need to rest and process everything." Draco took my hand and we went back to his room.
I immediately flopped down into his bed. I didn't realise how tired I was until I fell asleep right then and there.
