Amelia
His nervous aura could be felt from a mile away, his eyes flickered between me and the floor countless of times as he rubbed the back of his neck. Opening the door wider for him, I stepped aside and motioned for him to come in. Hesitantly, he stepped inside and observed the room with just a glance. His shoulders were bunched together and he gulped visibly many times.
"Is everything okay?", I cautiously walked towards him.
My mind was still worried about Sebastian but if Eli was okay, then that would mean he was okay too, but my mind was still in a haywire because of Edgar's unexpected visit. I was still scared because I didn't want him to find out about me, if he did, I wouldn't know what to do. Sebastian was a dangerous man and he would protect the people he loved even if it meant him getting killed in the process. That thought brought shivers up my body.
"He's okay", Eli spoke and his eyes held an emotion I couldn't pinpoint.
My mind and body visibly relaxed as I heard those two words. Sebastian was okay and he was fine, probably downstairs ordering the guards around. My eyes found Eli's brown ones and I didn't know why, but I trusted him even though I didn't know him one bit. But I had this sudden urge to get to know him.
"I need to tell you something", He rushed out, frantically walking back and fourth.
My eyebrows raised as I stared at him, confusion rolling through me in waves. Gesturing with my hand, I gave him a signal to talk. Swallowing, he fisted his hands and muttered some words incoherently. His shoulders tensed even more, causing his neck veins to pop out.
"Maybe you should sit down first", He nodded his head towards the chair.
Without a question, I trudged and sat on the chair. My body was in a panicked state but my mind told me to trust him and that he wouldn't try anything. Back then, when Edgar would torture me, Eli would always look away with a pained expression on his face. He would clench his hands and his eyes would have tears as Edgar's torture became brutal.
I always wondered what made me get closer to him. Edgar would always leave him to guard me but he wouldn't allow anyone to step inside the room, so he was forced to guard me from the outside. But that day, I didn't know how he entered but when he did, I was shocked out of my mind. He was the only man who didn't use me for his pleasure and I always wondered if he had a family.
Grateful was what I felt towards him everyday, because he was the only man who cared enough about me to walk me to my room when the guards finished using me. Everyday my head hung low, ashamed of myself because I couldn't even stand up for myself, and if I did, the punishement would always be harsh.
"When I was ten years old, a beautiful baby was born and she was my sister. When I looked into her eyes, I promised myself I would protect her from this dark world we live in. But I couldn't hold that promise, she was ripped away from me and I was forced to not tell her that I am her brother". His eyes held tears in them.
"For two years, I've endure the pain of her going through so many things. She would always cry herself to sleep and her so called fiancé would torture her until she was covered in bruises. Everyday, I would get the urge to kill him right there but I knew I couldn't for the sake of my sister". My widened eyes stared at him.
No it couldn't be, this had to be a dream. The things he's telling sounds exactly like my past. But I was born an only child and raised by my mother. Never even once did she mentioned I had a brother. My hands shook and the room suddenly felt like it was closing in on me. No matter how many times I tried to grasp onto something, it felt like I was falling.
Hearing a rustle, my eyes snapped up to meet Eli's and it was as if the whole thing clicked into place. With just one look from him, I knew this wasn't a dream instead it was my cruel reality, throwing its surprising gifts my way. Standing up from the chair, I walked up to him with hesitation.
My eyes swept all over his face and I could see the similar features he held. Now, I know why he looked away when Edgar took me against my will, it wasn't because he had a family of his own, it was because I was his family. My hands shakily came up to cup his face. His eyes closed and inhaled sharply.
"You don't have to say anything, anymore", I leaned my head on his chest.
His arms circled around my waist and his chin rested on my shoulder. "I am so sorry, so so sorry", I felt tears dripping onto my shoulders.
"It's okay, it wasn't your fault", I mumbled out.
I felt my own salty tears drip down my cheeks, making my eyes blurry. But I didn't blame him, he must've gone through horrible things to keep me alive, if it wasn't for him, father would've killed me without a single thought.
"But you went through pain everyday", His arms tightened around me.
Pulling away from him, I stroked his cheeks, enjoying his brotherly warmth he was radiating off. Giving him a slight smile,I wiped his tears away. He leaned closer and kissed the top of my head lovingly.
"From now on, I will protect you no matter what", He hugged me tightly once again.
"Okay", I whispered, leaning my head on his chest.
