Trey
Pulling up outside my crib in Roanoke, I was nervous as fuck.
I ain't know what I was about to walk into.
I hadn't talked to Tae since she left Miami last night. She caught me off guard and I couldn't find the words to explain why I really went. My biggest prayer was that she was still here; cause she was known to break out when she got upset. It was after eight so I'm sure the kids were sleep since it was a week night. I walked in through the garage and made my way around the quiet downstairs. The fresh scent relaxed me as I made my way up.
I made my way in each of the kids' rooms and saw them asleep. After kissing their foreheads, I made my way to our room. Tae laid back in bed flipping through channels as Taylor slept on her stomach.
"Hey baby."
She looked me right in the eye and didn't speak. I walked closer and kissed Taylor's cheek. Before I completely stood, I attempted to kiss Tae's cheek too; however, her hand caught my face and mushed me backward.
"Wow, seriously?"
"Don't play with me, Tremaine. Don't come in here acting like you don't know I don't like you."
"Baby...."
"Trey, don't. Just leave me alone."
"It's not what you think. Can you trust me?" I asked gently.
"Absolutely not. You're not gonna 'trust me' your way out of this one."
"I'm not using it as a cop out..."
"You are. Otherwise, what's the secret?"
I sighed and sat in the chair to the side of the bed.
"I missed y'all."
Tae rolled her eyes and turned back to the TV.
"You didn't miss me?"
"Tell me why you were in Miami."
Again, I sighed, heavier as my head fell to the back of the chair. My eyes went to the TV where old Sex in the City episodes were on.
"I needed to handle something there and the guys went to hold me down. That's it."
When I ain't hear a response, I looked back at her.
Her attention was still on the TV.
"Very vague, Tremaine. You know the only reason I'm still here is cause I don't wanna upset my children. They're soooo excited about their new house."
"Lashontae, you can't just leave every time you get mad any way. That ain't mature."
"Which is why I'm tryna do better, but your ass ain't making it easy."
