"Good morning."
Trey yawned as he walked into the kitchen.
"Morning Daddy!" Trini, TJ, and Rose yelled in unison sitting at the breakfast bar eating oatmeal.
He smiled and walked over to kiss their cheeks.
"Morning Doll."
"Morning."
I burped Taylor as I stood across from the kids.
He walked around, kissed my cheek, and took her from me. The smile on his face when he saw hers' made me smile.
"Good morning Daddy's pretty baby."
She squealed as he kissed her.
"Is Eva still sleep?"
He nodded.
"I'm sure she will be for a while. She just went to sleep three hours ago."
"I'ma go wake her up. If she's gonna be here, she gotta get on schedule. We already up all night with this one, I can't be up all day and night."
Eva was the most adorable baby girl. However, she didn't know me, Trey or anybody else in this damn house. Therefore, last night had been hell. She screamed her head off until she calmed down.
Between getting her accommodated and having a seven week old, I thought my head was bout to explode. Trey and I took turns with them all night long and barely got any sleep.
I washed my hands in the sink and went upstairs. I smiled at how calm she was now as she laid in the middle of our bed. Although the night was long, I was glad she eventually felt safe enough to relax. Either that or she got tired of screaming.
I eased into bed and softly stroked her cheek with the back of my hand.
"Evaaaaa..."
Slowly, she squirmed as she came to. As her eyes landed on mine, she paused and stared back.
"Good morning pretty girl."
Her stare continued for a bit before they started to fill with tears.
Before she could start, I scooped her up.
"Hey now, don't you start this today," I whispered kissing her cheeks while squeezing her tight, "we did this last night already, remember?"
Her eyes looked confused as she watched me. I laid her on a changing table and cleaned her up before fastening her onesie at the bottom.
"Let's get you some breakfast and see what your....child, my children are your aunts and uncle...how ghetto. Anyway, let's go see if they're finished eating and get you something."
I picked her up and walked downstairs.
"I don't know why you would feed them oatmeal while I'm here," April fussed at Trey with Taylor in her arms as we walked in the kitchen, "I always make breakfast when I'm able."
