I took a deep breath as I stood in front of the mahogany door. I was a nervous wreck. I had no idea how Y/N would accept me now that I was clean. I let my mind wonder to the night I had lost her

I was at the bar, it was 4am, my usual routine. Work, drink, sleep, more like pass out. My shot was grabbed out of my hand making me spin around in annoyance. I was ready to tell this person off but I was met by a pair of loving brown eyes that snatched the words out of my mouth.

"Edwin please come home" Y/N pleaded
"No" I said
"You've been neglecting our kids and this relationship! It's like your life has just been consumed by alcohol! Please come home so I can get you help" she said pleadingly
"No! I don't give a fuck about this stupid family of ours or you! I will drink how ever the fuck I wanna! You didn't have a mom so that don't mean you need to be mine!" I said harshly immediately regretting my words as I saw her heart shatter.

She opened her mouth to say something but a tear beat her to it. She quickly wiped it away and threw a peace sign at me before walking away

A tear rolled down my cheek as I reminisced in the time. The hurt that I caused her. I fixed myself before knocking on the door twice. I heard a scream and a giggle before Y/N opened the door.

She had her hair messy, she wore an oversized men's dress shirt with fuzzy socks. Even this messy she still looked gorgeous as ever

"Trey stop it" she giggled making me look up at her. We locked eyes and almost immediately her smile dropped. Her face scrunched up as though she was exsamining me before a small smile came into her beautiful face
"Oh- hey Edwin" God she hadn't called me that since we started dating
"H-hey Y/N" I said returning her smile
"What you doing here?" She asked
"Oh I came here to tell you-
"Babe who's at the door?" A deep voice said
"Oh it's just Edwin babe" she answered before a y'all figure came from behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her a kiss. I cleared my throat which made the pair pull away
"Oh! Yes how rude of me! Trey- Edwin, Edwin-Trey" Y/N smiled
"Hey man" this Trey character said extending his hand

I looked at his hand, before taking it and slowly shaking it.

"Uhm Babe don't you wanna go help Mel, it's proberbly 9, she's gonna be awake any time soon" Y/N said breaking the silent staring competition
"Sure, don't be too long" Trey said giving her another kiss

Geez and you go a sec without kissing her!

"So what are you saying?" Y/N asked
"Oh, I'm clean! I went to rehab and I've been there for 3 years! To make sure I would be 100% clean" I smiled
"Well congrats" she smiled

Congrats? Just congrats?

"Thanks" I said
"So how about I take you out to coffee to celebrate this sobererity? You know two friends out for coffee? I know this really cool coffeehouse I have been dying to go to with Trey but he's been busy with basketball and I couldn't find a babysitter for Melody, soo he's off and you're here so how about it?" She smiled
"Sure" I smiled back
"So tomorrow at noon? Does that sound good?"
"Yeah, see you then"
"Cool" She said before shutting th door

That's when I let the word sink in

Had I hurt her so much that she had cast me off into the friend zone?

I decided to not think of it so much, at least we would be alone tomorrow where I would be able to tell her my real feelings for her

Okay this was crappy but yeah.
