Acrostic: Kakistocracy (a rant)
©2018, Olan L. Smith
Keep me up at night why don't you,
All you idiots of this realm who rule.
Kiss the babies and kill the heralds
In their sleep, no less. You cry, "Down with the press!"
Strangeness in an inexplicable world; hypocrisy! You claim we need
The stupid people of this country for authority over
Our nation. I wouldn't have believe it if I hadn't heard it
Coming from your own lips, "Let the less educated
Rule for a change, see where that gets us."
Alright, what can go wrong? Dissolved alliances,
Countries at war, tariff wars, global annihilation;
Your politicians at work for you! Damn fools they be.
(A.N. The word kakistocracy, Greek, was coined in 1829 by Thomas Love Peacock and means to be ruled by the worst (kakistos, kakonomos, kakka), the least qualified, or the most unscrupulous politicians.)
