Beyond Opinion
©09-08-2020, Olan L. Smith
Two-cents worth is the bulk of a thought.
What is in virtue worth, more?
For we all chip in for the whole,
And right verses wrong cancel each other,
Until all that is left is the weight
Of a single idea thrust upon the
World to tilt it one way or another,
Plus or minus it doesn't matter.
It is the process of counterbalances,
And each moment this process ensues,
And we muddle along thinking nothing
Matters but our mundane lives.
Yet, in the process of balances,
Of discerning, it all adds up to hope.
A/N: "Beyond Opinion" is a free verse 14 line poem. The painting one of mine titled, "Gal with a Lute."
