Beyond Opinion
©09-08-2020, Olan L. Smith
Ten cents is worth the bulk of a thought.
What is virtue worth? more, I hope―
We all chip in for the whole dime,
And right versus wrong cancel each other,
Until all that's left is the weight
Of a single thought thrust upon us, the
The world tilts one way or another,
Plus or minus it doesn't matter.
It is the process of counterbalances,
And each moment this process ensues,
And we muddle along thinking nothing
Matters but our mundane lives.
Yet, in the process of balance and discernment
Is revealed, its name is liberty.
A/N: "Beyond Opinion" is a free-verse 14-line poem.
