I Recognize You, Spirit

I've seen that glint in your eye, and that smile,
Your knowledge upturns the right after a while,
And those wrinkles in your nose,
Plus a single hair that grows,
And needs trimmed or plucked
With tweezers of gold fit for the divinity
You are. I've seen rage demolish you,
Hope enlighten you, and love devour
You. But you always arise, developed from Zeus,
Crowned in heaven, and your tears flow from
The river Styx. You, Athena, are awareness,
Wisdom, a warrior whose blade slashes both ways.
You're thoughts are protectors of the city state,
Of democracy, a design of duplicity's fate
Of left verses right, of human deficit of unity
And their failure in life to create community.
