I take a deep breath trying to process exactly what had happened. Garrett was going to want an explanation about the altercation he'd witnessed earlier but I didn't want to tell him about my dad just yet. I wanted us to remain in our little bubble of happiness for as long as possible. I didn't want to pull Garrett into my family drama.
My biological dad was never really around. When I turned 18 I went to look for him. We kept in touch for years. But when I got published he came around more. At first it was a normal "let's catch up" vibe that quickly turned into the "let me hold some money" vibe.
The story gets much longer and crazier than I make it seem but I really do want to be honest with Jasper but I don't want him to feel like I'm dumping everything on him.
Maybe I should try and see what happens. Instead I do the thing I'm dreading, tell Garrett what's going on.
