This morning when me and Shay woke up together, all she could think about was the list of things she had to do before the next day. I hated to see her so stressed out. So, I decided tonight I'd give her mind a vacation.

I spent all day putting together this surprise for Shay. I went to a little French bistro down the road from our apartment building and ordered her favorite foods off the menu. Then I decide to go around town and pick up her favorites from her usual haunts. I pay for the food and set it up for delivery later on then go and grab the other things I needed for tonight. My last stop was to some craft store to pick up some rose petals.

I finally make it home and set everything up. I want tonight to be a good night for Shay, so she can relax and stop thinking of all her responsibilities for one night. I am going to give her that.

Once everything was in place and all the food had been delivered, I go to collect Shay. I sneak into her apartment as quietly as possible. I pull her away from the computer desk and throw her over my shoulder taking her to the surprise I had waiting. When we get to my door, I set Shay on her feet. After giving her a quick kiss, I open the door and let her in.

"OH MY GOD!" Shay gasps slapping at my chest playfully

"I saw how stressed you about today and decided I wanted to help you relax. Even if it was just for a couple hours," I say placing my hands on her shoulders squeezing.

"All this for me," Shay questions eyeing the rose petals leading to the pellet I made on the living room floor around the coffee table.

"Yup, the one and only," I breathe in her ear.

Shay turns towards me, slipping he arms around my waist hugging me, "You're the only man who's ever done anything like this for me."

"Shame," I tell her rubbing her back, "You're the only one I've ever done this for."

My confession makes her smile up at me.

"Just wait until you see what else I have instore for you," I smile back placing a kiss on her forehead and guiding her toward our makeshift buffet.

"You didn't," Shay hits me again.

"I did," I mock back handing her a plate, "Dig in."

We prep our plates in silence then sit together. After we are settled and have started eating I pull out a deck of homemade cards and set them between us on the coffee table.

"What are those," Shay giving me the side-eye.

"It's a game I thought we could play while we eat," I smile

"How do you play" She asks readjusting herself to rest on her knees.

"We pull a card and ask the question. Both of us have to answer. It's like a get to know you game," I explain.

"Okay you go first," She says skeptically.

I pick up the first card and read off the question, "Cats or Dogs?"

"Cats," she answers simply, grabbing another card, "What about you?"

"Both," I say shrugging my shoulders taking a sip of my drink.

"What was the last book you read," She reads.

"Fighting with desire," my answer causes me to blush slightly with embarrassment. I peek up through my lashes waiting to see Shay's reaction.

"You read my last book?" Shay's eyes are wide with surprise.

"Of course I was curious and it seemed like a good way to show support for your writing. It was actually really good even though it's not the type of book I'm used to reading.," I try to speak non-chalantly shrugging my shoulders and take a bite of food.

"That is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me," Shay 's smile is so big and it makes my heart skip a beat. I realize in that moment that I love her and I'm going to continue to show her with my actions as well as words.

"My turn," I tell her leaning forward to place a kiss on her lips and grab the next card, "What is one fantasy you would like me to fulfill but are too scared I'll say no?"

I have no idea what the questions were going to ask when I picked up the deck at Barnes and Nobel. I thought it was a cute idea that would both distract Shay and inspire her. But if the cards continued with this particular line of questioning the night would lead exactly where I'd planned it to... the bedroom.
