2. The sorting hat

The boys watched in awe with the other pupils as the doors to the famous great hall opened. Sirius began furiously chewing on his fingernails, a habit with he thought he grew out of a long time ago. Remus and Peter were fidgeting nervously, but James stood there convinced he would be in Gryfindor. After all his parents and loads of his aunties and uncles had been in that house. Sirius was one of the first to be called. The hat rambled on for what seemed like ages, it finally decided. It was Gryfindor, not Slytherin, he was so happy! James was slightly  zoned out until the hat yelled "GRYFINDOR!" He wanted to know who was going to be in his house, then he zoned out again. Remus and peter were also in Gryfindor which was good.
"Potter, James" called out a shrill voice. He walked up and before the hat had even touched his head it yelled out "OF COURSE, GRYFINDOR!!"

The boys all sat next to each other and were so happy to be in gryfindor together. They were looking around their table, it was gunna be a good 7 years!!

Lily's PoV

I looked at my food suddenly deeming it the most important thing so far. I looked across the tables to see my best friend Severus Snape. I hoped we would be in the same house but i guess not, I sigh. The girl next to me with short black hair seemed friendly so I smiled at her, she smiled back. 

"Hey, I'm Marlene McKinnon, were you Lucy, Lily? She questioned

"I'm Lily" I giggled, Marlene and I talked for a bit and then started talking to some of the other girls, after all we are going to be sharing a dorm. One of them who I liked more, was Alice Fortescue. Then I saw this handsome, brown haired boy staring at me from up the table. I blushed furiously and went back to staring at my food. Somehow, Marlene  and Alice noticed him and immediately began asking me about him. 

"I don't even know him" I retorted, though I had to admit he was good looking.

"I do" Marlene replied, eyes sparkling, "He lives near me, we're basically like brother and sisters, his mom and my mom are good friends, his name is James Potter" 

At this point i was furiously blushing, my cheeks as red as my long hair. James waved down at Marlene and then looked at me again and smiled a cheeky grin.

Third person

The prefects called them to go to the red and gold common room. They all followed giggling with excitement. The were all told the password. Suddenly the portrait swung open revealing the wonders that lay ahead. James was talking to Sirius and told her about the red head beauty he had seen, he had a crush on her. I hope she's nice he thought to himself. 
"There she is" James whispered, not so subtly pointing at his crush. The boys headed up to their dorms and talked for a while before falling into a restful slumber. Their day began and so did classes, the breakfast was good. When Lily walked in she was shocked to see Severus there. James was there as well smirking at her. He then began whispering to Sirius about something, probably Lily. Snake patted the seat next to him and lily gladly joined, liking the familiar feeling. James felt jealous and blushed a deep red.

The rest of their classes were good,apart from History of Magic - BORING! Lily started talking to James. She was in a lot of the same classes as him and her new friends, and James' friends. Everything was really good for the first week of school. Ahhh, bliss
