13. I hate you!

Lily's PoV

I was sat waiting in the common room for bloody Potter and Black to come back. I can't stand them, especially James.  He's rude, mean, a bully, arrogant and a big fat ugly toe rag!! Black's not much better, all he does it prank people! Not to mention he's the biggest player in Hogwarts! 

How people found them attractive, I have no clue!..

They were so unlike my Ben... Ben was kind, caring, smart, handsome and he was a proper Gentleman!

I was talking to Ben in a corridor when I heard a strangled noise, I turn around and there's Potter, staring at me and Ben. 

UGGGHH!!!

Black comes up behind him and looks shocked, Potter then turns away, face screwed up , and sprints, YES SPRINTS, away.

He always ruins things for me, he asks me out to embarass me, when I was friends with Sev he would prank him, he talks about me to his friends. And know Ben is my boyfriend, he pranks Ben

I stormed back to the common room after apologising to Ben and arranging to meet him tomorrow. I had talked to Remus and he told me they were still out, so I sat up and waited for them.

Petty, I know but......

But here I was still waiting at 10:15, they were late.  Because they broke the rules, I will deduct house points and give them both detention.

Finally, at 10:21, they strolled in, Potter had his head hung low, his face was blotchy and his eyes were red and swollen. He looked so, so, vunrable, and like he'd been crying.

"No, Lily, keep your mind on the task at hand" I told myself, I glared at them and stood up walking towards them, shaking with anger

"Black, leave, detention for breaking curfew and 20 points from Gryffindor" I tried to keep my voice steady. Black shuffled up the stairs, and gave James a lingering glance before sliding in to the boys bedrooms. Then I stood to face Potter, his head was still hung down and his shoulders were slumped over.  

"JAMES POTTER!!! YOU ARE THE WORST PERSON I HAVE EVER MET!!! YOU HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING FOR ME!!! YOU ARE THE UGLIEST, MOST HATEFUL PERSON IN HOGWARTS!!!", I dropped my voice to a growl, "if you know what's good for you, stay out of my life" 

He looked up at me, tears welled up in his eyes and one lone tear slid down his flushed cheeks, I suddenly felt guilty .

"okay" He whispered, so quiet I could barely hear him, He walked up to his room, but his walk was different, it wasn't cocky or arrogant or that daft strut, it was if he was under the imperious curse and couldn't control his feet. 

Before he opened the door, he turned to me and murmured, "I'm sorry lily." He turned and stepped into his bedroom, at that point I heard a cry and then sobbing.

I sunk into the chair, I felt so guilty. I had seen James Potter cry... I had made James Potter cry... I had seen he was a real person, not just the irritating persona he put up for the world to see.

"Lily, stop! He's everything you said he was" I thought.

But one thought stayed at the front of my mind,  and I couldn't stop thinking about it,

Maybe, just maybe he wasn't that  bad after all...
