Emma was averting her gaze from me all morning, but while we were waiting for the girls, I decided to discuss with her one topic.
"Hey, how are you?" I asked.
She finally looked at me and I felt how hard it was for her.
"I'm fine," she answered, smiling. "Yeah, something very peculiar happened, you know, but it's okay. It could be worse."
"I'm glad."
"Listen, I'm really sorry you have such a terrible brother. We can help you with that! We can't leave it like this, Mike."
"Yeah," I nodded. "It seems like this problem really has to be solved."
Emma kept looking at me and smiling.
"I hope in time I'll get used to you knowing some things about me. Please, try to understand. I'm sure we'll find people we'll spend our lives with. Those who will accept our demons. It will be great if they will have the same ones, especially in my case and in yours with your future girlfriend..."
"I think I've already found her," I smiled widely.
"Um, what do you mean?"
"When you were reading your diary, it turned me on...big time," I said suggestively.
Emma opened her mouth in surprise.
"What?" she asks happily. "Are you serious?"
"Absolutely."
I took her hands in mine.
"Ms. Emma Wilson, will you do me the honor of becoming my girlfriend?" I asked formally.
"Well, usually people start the relationship based on the common interests."
"We have them," I insisted.
"I mean hobbies, things we like to do."
"Okay, what do you like to do?"
The cute girl looked at the sky and pondered about it.
"Scrapbooking," she laughed.
"I like it too!"
"Are you kidding?" she slightly nudged me. "Such a brutal guy can't be into scrapbooking."
"What kind of gender stereotypes you have?" I asked her, smirking. "Do you want me to show you my works?"
"I do," she agreed.
I pulled her closer and kissed her.
"Are you dating or something?" asked Kate when she and Veronica got back.
"Yes," my new girlfriend said quietly.
"It's an interesting day," Kate put her index finger on her lips, "should we go eat some burgers, maybe?"
"Two days in a row?" Veronica asked dramatically. "It's not like you at all."
"Listen, my friend, we were hypnotized to come into that shitty room, to spin that shitty wheel! We were humiliated, forced to talk about things that even the people that are closest to us don't know about. At least the food was good and we also have the money – it's not bad! What else happened? We found out that there is a secret 'corporation of wickedness' nobody knows about; and also your ex, whose appearance we forgot, turned out to be Loki – the one who makes people go to that show! But the most important thing is that I broke up with the crappiest psycho whose life is never-ending lies and showing off!" Kate screamed the last sentence toward the house. 'So yes, I can allow myself to eat burgers two days in a row, drink some coke and don't give a shit about calories! Oh, yeah, Mike and Emma are dating – I'm very happy for you, guys, and there is one more reason to celebrate!"
The sassiest girl in our group put her hand on Veronica's shoulder.
"But to be honest, I will allow myself to eat one more burger, because, Veronica, I almost lost you, since the crappiest psycho, whose life is never-ending lies and showing off, was ready to kill you!"
Veronica smiled and hugged Kate. I took the opportunity and kissed Emma.
It's weird that yesterday we were suffering and today we act like nothing happened. Anyway, isn't that what we agreed on? Is everything really going to be okay from now on?
