"Can I ask a question?" Amberle asked in a hush, worriedly eyeing the woman who sat behind the desk. She could see it in the woman's face that she knew exactly what her question would be about, Joslyn even nodded letting her know she could ask whatever she wanted.

"Aren't you worried that Victoria is going to say something about what she saw?"

"Should I be?" The woman questioned and Amberle shrugged, not exactly expecting such nonchalance.

"I mean, yeah, what if she says something and word gets back to Luther?"

"That's what you're afraid of?"

"I am, yeah."

"Why?"

"I'm not entirely afraid for myself but you. I'd hate for this to be the cause of even more problems between you and the man."

"Amberle look," Jos sighed. "Luther and I are a lost cause, it's just a matter of time before one of us files for divorce," she stated and the girl blinked rapidly.

"That's final?" She asked.

"Yes, and to be honest I want to be the first to file for the divorce—I'm just waiting for the right time."

"What about your sons?"

"Believe me when I say that I have considered them. I know the idea of their father and me having a divorce would be quite confusing, possibly even hard to digest, but they'll soon learn to cope with the separation."

"Are you sure there isn't anything that would make you reconsider?" Amberle queried and the woman arched a brow.

"I'm starting to think that you don't want me all for yourself," Joslyn teased and the girl visibly panicked.

"It's more like the opposite. I do want you for myself but of course, I've gotten greedy but I don't want to be the one that's keeping a good thing from flourishing."

"You can't pump life into something that's already dead and with no intention of coming back. My husband and I have had years of problems and this had been long overdue."

"I've never thought you could be like this."

"Not every woman wants to blindly sit behind a filling marriage just because she wants to look good, or is too ashamed to do it."

"I see."

"When you get to my age and have been married to a man like Luther for almost twenty years you'll understand, I assure you," Joslyn replied and Amberle chuckled.

"Then it's a good thing I won't be marrying a man like him." She replied and the woman smiled.

"Perhaps a woman like me then?" The blonde asked and she blushed.

Later that evening after Amberle and the older woman got back to the apartment, Joslyn pitched the idea that they should go spend the night at a bar, just to try something new together. The notion of getting out there to unwind despite it being smack in the middle of the week seemed rather appealing. Being the good sport that Amberle was, she went along with it, ecstatic that the woman wanted to be seen with her outside the comfort of the apartment.

Close to an hour later, Amberle reemerged from her room in ripped skinny jeans, a blue tank top, and a black leather jacket, her wavey hair brushed against her shoulders, spilling around her face. Joslyn dressed similarly except her jeans weren't ripped and her jack was brown.

The woman knew she'd seen Amberle dressed casually before but as they left and made it to the nearest bar, the entire time she couldn't stop admiring her. Not only did she get to see her flaunt her good looks but also what the girl was like in her environment, in her habitat and it was cute. She was a stunning girl with a troubled soul but with an even greater beauty beneath her flaws. Amberle wasn't entirely lost the woman thought the girl who grinned from ear to ear.

"I'm so glad we did this, oh my gosh!" The girl exclaimed, her face reflecting her elation as she sipped her beer. Joslyn couldn't help but smile each time she studied her, she was so cute. The realization that this was her world once more sunk in.

"Do you miss this?" She questioned and the girl placed her drink down.

"The things I'd fallen into was never the life that I wanted to live but it was what I got for being obstinate." She replied and the woman took a sip of her beer.

"But do you miss it?"

"I miss going out. I miss disappearing into the crowd at bars and clubs but do I miss the drugs and the dangerous jobs I'd done? No."

"I see, and what about this life, being steered in the right direction, being around me, it's not inherently difficult or exhilarating, so how is it?"

"Better, far better than what I had before," Amberle replied.

Taking a much longer sip at her drink, Joslyn eyed her love interest. A flame deep within her soul lit itself the longer she stared into the brunette's delectable face. Her desire for her grew in the couple weeks they were doing business together and that evening Joslyn cuddled the feeling close to her heart.
