The following morning Joslyn woke up early, Amberle was still fast asleep and taking advantage of that she phoned Russell. In regards to the conversation the woman had with the girl hours prior, she gave him all the names of the persons Amberle said she worked for in the past or who she'd spied on for Danny along with their last known addresses. He was more than appreciative of the information but was quite concerned about why the girl was involved with a few of the recognized names. It wasn't a joke and because of that, the man came up with a plan involving the young girl on a level Joslyn wasn't pleased with but truthfully it had to be done.
"Lyn, you know the only way we can catch that asshole is if we give him what he wants. Let Amberle go to him and we'll follow her. We'll arrest him and you, the girl and your family will be fine."
"It's a good plan Russell, I agree but what if it doesn't work, what if he's expecting us to do exactly that, use her as bait?"
"I know you have your doubts but trust me, we can accomplish this but first she needs to reach out to him," Russell stated and the line went silent as the woman contemplated the thing he planned. It was risky but Amberle was used to that right?
"You promise to make sure she doesn't get hurt?" She asked when she realized there wasn't much to do besides giving it a try.
"I swear on my life and the lives of my family, I'll make sure that he doesn't lay a hand on her. I've let you down quite a lot recently but I'm not about to gamble with her life,"
"Okay, I'll talk to her about it when she wakes up but I still think that it's a terrible idea."
"I think it's a terrible idea too but honestly you and I know it's the only way Michael will leave her alone."
"I know,"
Scratching her head, thoughts about Russell's suggestion permeated. It was suicide, what they were sending her to do but he was right, it had to be done even if it was a fucked-up idea.
"I'll swing by your office to discuss it with her," he said and quickly the two friends exchanged their goodbyes and the call ended, leaving Joslyn to stare ahead, anxiety and fear swallowing her stomach whole.
Replacing the receiver in its socket, the woman made her to the bedroom. Quietly opening the door, she noticed Amberle was still asleep so she sneaked in quietly. Standing by the window the blonde looked out into the early morning sky for some time. The sun hadn't yet risen, but the place was somewhat bright. Very few people moved about down.
Turning her gaze to the sleeping brunette, she slept with one of her leg thrown from beneath the cover, her wavy hair laid all over her face as she slept peacefully. The sight of her so beautifully unaware made the woman's heart swell with so much love for her.
The woman swore within her heart that she would never allow anything or anyone to hurt her even if it meant risking her own life just to save hers. She made Joslyn feel something she hadn't felt in a while and that very thing she planned on expressing a whole lot more, not just because she hadn't felt it in so long but because Amberle deserved it.
She deserved someone to truly care for her.
