Joslyn instructed the girl, come the following day to meet her for lunch at a little Mexican place in the city. It was convenient for both of them, she even stressed how much she detested waiting on people and drilled it into Amberle to be there on time, but the idle motherfucker in the girl incited wilful tardiness to keep the woman waiting longer than she intended. So when she finally arrived almost forty minutes late the woman was furious, frothing at the mouth to be exact. Her face held that sour expression Amberle was getting used to.

She greeted her with a sheepish grin.

"Do you think this is funny?" Joslyn asked and Amberle feigned repentance. She playfully pouted. "No, in fact, I'm so sorry your honour," she giggled at the woman's florid cheeks. Holes were being burnt into her, but the girl ignored them. Nothing was ever such a big deal she thought.

"Just relax Judge Judy, it's not a big deal."

Surprised at the deadpanned glare she received instead of anger, Amber picked up a menu to lower her eyes to it. She didn't want to stare at the woman when she looked like that, so dark.

"Are you done?" Joslyn asked and she shrugged.

"What is it that you think I do for a living Miss Wilson? Do you think I sit around and wait for delinquent adults to show up to discuss personal issues?" Amberle frowned. The woman's strident tone and facial expression were a bit condescending so she rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry I kept you waiting Joslyn, I am,"

The older woman frowned harder.

"What is your problem? Here I am trying to help you and you're acting like an insolent child." she hissed and the girl glared at her in extended silence.

"Why are you so worked up over this, I said I was sorry." She mumbled eventually.

"Amberle you've kept me waiting here knowing I have a job to get back too and all you've done is jest about it instead of being a matured adult and genuinely apologize."

"I did apologize, like twice!" The girl exclaimed staring at the woman's furrowed brows, they were nice, she was pretty but her attitude was maddening.

"How are you going to pay me back for the money I bailed you out with last night?" She asked, startling the girl who fumbled for words.

"I-I don't know, but I will, I promise."

"Really, and how do you intend to do that with no job?"

"Look, I don't know how but I will okay?"

"I see. What was it that you did to this girl, Stacy? Did you steal something from her, borrowed money, something else that was equally stupid yet quite like you?" She bluntly asked

"None of those things." The girl lied and she could tell the woman didn't buy it because she peered into her eyes, past her soul, past the mountain of barriers she shielded herself with, digging deeper until she recognized there was more. The ardent scrutiny left Amberle uncomfortable.

"So you're being framed for no apparent reason? I doubt it."

"Like I said last night, Stacy is envious of me and it's why she did it. She set me up with that gun, I may do a lot of stupid things but I don't play with guns."

"Okay," Joslyn sighed, quietly gathering her things from the table's top. "When you're ready to tell me the truth you can contact me directly. Here's my number." She said reaching out and placing a card over to Amberle before getting up from her seat at the table.

"Wait, wh-where are you going, I thought we had the stuff to discuss?"

"Yeah we do, but until you're ready to be frank with me I'll be at work being useful." She stated, fixing at her blazer and grabbing her purse.

"I hope you act promptly, you may not have much time left to be idle, this is a serious situation. You have court in a few days and you're so-called friend framed you, you should watch your back. Do have a lovely day Ms Wilson." Joslyn said and walked off, leaving the girl to stare at her perfect figure as it sashayed away.

Amberle took the card and studied it, flipping it continuously between her fingers while biting her bottom lip. Joslyn's name and contact number were printed in fancy letters on the piece of paper and she traced the surface of it. The girl didn't mean to get the woman involved in her affairs but she was desperate. It was just time before everyone she was affiliated with got caught in her problems and honestly, it was a chance she was willing to take if it meant she got to dig herself out of it. Joslyn had the choice to either help or not and she already made her decision.
