"That's how come you were both shot, you wrestled him for the gun?"

"Yes, and then I shot him two more times again because he still tried to come at me, if I hadn't done that I'm quite certain I wouldn't have been alive today," answered Amberle staring down at her entangled fingers. She felt drained both physically and mentally by reliving the entire thing she felt weary and inert.

Silence fell among the room and the two other detectives jotted down some things for a moment until the younger one known as detective Ben asked another question.

"How did you know where to find judge Harper?" She asked and Amberle swallowed to moisten her dry throat.

"As much as Danny tries to act smart and tough, he isn't. He doesn't know how to come up with stuff on his own. The same house he took me to after we fled from the cops and wrestled in was the same house Joslyn was kept in. She was in the basement. He was going to drag her along with us and discard of her somewhere."

"Weren't there other people in the house?" Detective Ben asked.

"Yes, there were two guys but one of them was guarding Joslyn and when I got down to the basement I pulled the gun on him. He didn't want to die nor go to jail nor did I so he told me he'd let her go if I let him go so that's what I did."

"You let another criminal escape?"

"What would you do in a situation like that, risk both your life and the life of the person you tried to save?

Detective Ben remained solemn.

"I see. I can't remember if we'd asked before but what was your relationship with the judge again?"

"She was my boss," she lied staring directly at the older detective.

There was silence for several seconds.

"Am I free to go?" Amberle asked as soon as she realized they hadn't any more questions regarding what happened. She told it all, how she got shot, how she killed Danny, all of it much to her discomfort.

"You know what, you are. Is there anyone we can call to give you a ride or would you like for a cop to take you home?" Asked Detective Ben.

"I can handle myself," she replied pushing her chair back and standing up. Amberle groaned a little at the pain that shot through her side but she composed herself rather well.

"Are you sure you don't need us to call someone for you?"

"Don't worry about it, I'll manage,"

Amberle pushed past the two detectives and was out of the door in seconds. Strolling through the hall, both the women were at her side but at a distance. She heard a cellphone ring and ignored it knowing that it wasn't for her.

Or so she thought.

Moments after Detective Charles came off of her device, she pulled Amber to a stop.

"There is someone here for you," She said and the girl swore all the hair on the back of her neck stood at a standstill. There could only be one person who'd come all the way there to find her and the moment the girl got to the waiting area of the precinct she saw her, sitting with her legs crossed. Never had she been so excited and nervous all together. Joslyn wore her excitement and compassion for the emotional girl like a suit, her eyes were glossy with tears, her face contorts with a smile. She was happy to see the girl. All Amberle could do was grin while she walked over to the blonde.
