"Sit down," Joslyn hissed as soon as the girl was about to say something, she was startled by her icy tone and it caused her to study the wide eyes, taking a seat on the couch nevertheless.
"Are you oka-"
"You don't get to speak." The older woman stated, cutting Amberle off. She stood glaring down at the girl, her arms folded tightly in front of her chest, her jaw worked vigorously as she studied the girl. Her icy gaze was bone-chilling and for some reason, Amberle felt a punishment coming her way although it wasn't her fault she left the bar and was snatched up by the man.
"He could've hurt me, or worse kill me and it's all your fault," She said and the brunette lowered her gaze, knowing exactly what she meant.
"Danny said things to me," She said walking closer to the girl. "Why do you keep hiding things from me Amberle and things you know are vital information?"
"I don't know what you mean," Amber replied tears blinding her eyes.
"C'mon, quit the lying. Danny said you are quite a manipulative little thing and I truly see it."
"I don't know what he's talking about, you have to believe me. Danny lied to you, it's not true."
"Did he now?"
"Look, I told you how he's the liar, he's the manipulator, he's the one that put a price on my head for me to pay when I tried to leave. I did my best to pay some of that money, Jos but I couldn't find all of it. He's trying to set me up and you're falling for his bait. I'm not those things anymore,"
"Falling for his bait, no? Have I found some amount of clarity in all of this? Yeah. From the very inception, I tried to get the truth out of you but you refused to tell me everything and now that I got it from the villain himself I don't know what to believe. You are a dangerous girl, you're a dangerous friend, a dangerous lover, a dangerous sub and the first person I was romantically interested in that put me through all of that in such a short time."
"I didn't force you to do it though." Amberle wiped her eyes. "Believing that asshole over me, wow," she gritted.
"That fucking asshole enlightened me, after all, he practically taught you every fucking thing you know so it must be true."
"So you're going to believe his words over mine?" The girl shot up angrily.
"I don't know what to believe, but I do know what I'll do from now on." She answered.
"Yeah, and what's that?"
"I'm ending this whole thing."
"What thing?" The girl asked storming behind Joslyn as she made for her room.
"This, you, me, I'm ending it. You're going to find somewhere else to stay because I can't keep doing this."
"No, you can't do that," Amber tried to grab her but the blonde pulled away.
"Yes I can and I will."
"Why?" She was holding in the fear, anger and hatred that vibrated within her. There was a huge ball in her throat choking the poor girl and it burned.
"That man threatened me, Amberle. He threatened my safety and that of my family's. I'm gambling with our lives every second I'm with you and as much as I love you I also love my family and I don't want any of us to get hurt, neither do you so I'm going to have to do what's right."
The girl gasped at her words, especially her confession.
"You love me?" She was careful at repeating the words.
Joslyn sighed. "God Amberle, isn't it obvious?"
"I've noticed but I didn't think you'd ever say it."
"Why not?" She asked and the girl lowered her gaze.
"Isn't it obvious? Everyone's afraid to love me or be near me for long because of the things I was involved in. You've said it yourself, I am a dangerous person and that scares everyone away. I knew it was only time before it scared you too."
"Amberle I am sorry. I want to help you but the only way I can do that is if you come clean about everything and I mean it."
"Yeah, but me coming clean and you helping me could mean greater danger for your family and you, so I understand if you want to get rid of me."
"I know that, but you're also apart of my family and I really want to help you instead of tossing you away. All I need is for you to be honest and that's it. You need to be safe too." Joslyn replied cupping the girl's cheeks, brushing her thumb across the surface pushing the tears away. "Okay?"
"I swear it though, whatever Danny said to you is all him, not me," Amberle replied and quickly the woman pulled her in for a tight hug. The tangible tension that was spreading within the girl dissipated slowly as she stood in her embrace. She felt safe despite all that she knew could go wrong and before she could stop her, the words slipped out of me.
"I love you, Jos," she said and much to her surprise, the woman held her tighter.
