The Day We Fall In Love

Chapter 36

Napatingin ako kay Daniel nang sabihin niya yun. Only to find out he was looking at me too. Sabay kaming umiwas.

It's been 2 weeks or something simula nung bumalik siya. Gusto kong makipag-usap but I don't know what to say. I have so many questions in my head that I
coudn't put into words and ask him.

Hindi ko alam pero nanatili ako sa couch habang nanunuod siya ng basketball. Tanging ang tv lang ang nagbibigay ingay sa buong bahay.

“Hindi ka pa ba matutulog?”

Instead of answering him. Tinanong ko siya pabalik.
“Uuwi ka na ba?”

Nag-isip pa siya bago sumagot. “I guess so.”

Tumayo ako at kinuha ulit ang remote sakanya.  A puzzled look crossed over his face. Naghanap ako ng channel na may magandang movie.

“I'm watching until I fall asleep,” I said kahit hindi siya nagtanong.

Saktong may isang foreign movie about love. Umupo ako sa pwesto ko at ganun din si Daniel.

“I'm staying then, until you fall asleep.”

I nodded. That sounds good.

I didn't take a good look at the title of the movie and just watched it as to how it goes. I found my self crying by the end of the movie. It was a story about a girl who were left behind by her boyfriend without any explanation at all. He abandoned her and never had a proper goodbye. She must be heartbroken. But the real reason was, the guy realized he doesn't deserve her.  She's too good for her and that he can't let the girl suffer because of him.

“Kath..” Lumapit sakin si Daniel at hinagod ang likod ko. “Sshh.. It's okay.”

We were just an inch away and I could barely breathe. Siguro dahil malapit siya or dahil sa pagyakap niya.

“Daniel..” sabi ko nang tumigil na ako sa pag-iyak saka siya bumitaw.

“Can I ask you something?”

“Sure, ano yun?”

Yumuko ako at pinaglaruan ang daliri habang nakapatong sa lap ko.

“What happened after you walk away from me?”

Akala ko ay magugulat siya sa tanong ko pero nanatili siyang kalmado. Bago pa siya makasagot ay nagsalita ulit ako.

“Why did you do that?”

“Do what? ”

Nang marealize ko ang ginagawa ko ay napatigil ako.

“Nothing. I mean, what I actually wanted to say is that.. I'm glad your back.” I smiled.

“Me too.” And he gave his sweetest smile he could ever give.

I woke up from the sound of my alarm clock. Pagtingin ko ay alas onse na ng umaga. Nag-inat ako bago tuluyang tumayo para maligo. Napatingin ako sa bedside table nang may napansin akong sticky note.

‘Good morning beautiful :) See you later in school.  Ingats.'

Napangiti ako pagkatapos ko itong basahin. He never failed to make my heart flutter. Nakalagay sa ibaba ng sulat ang pangalan ni Daniel. I realized I missed his handwriting and sticky notes.  That was his thing before.

Kahit tinatamad pa ay pinilit ko ang sarili na maligo dahil kelangan kong pumasok. It's not like we have regular classes, kelangan kong mag-sign in dahil required ang lahat ng students. Before 1 o'clock ay nakaalis na ako ng bahay at sumakay ng taxi.
